Hurrah! Converted another Gold Golem Hater! Thank You for changing your mind =p. now if only i could get the other 35 $#%@ back here to change there minds.
Some people just can't let go of their opinions.
For me, until I notice the progress on the idea, and detail, I start loving it.
I've got a question, will iron golems attack gold golems?
This would be good because: If you obtain enough iron, you can make a golem in order to rpotect yourself from battle.
This would be bad because: If a pyramid spawned into a village, and the iron golem spawned inside, the gold golem would be dead by the time you came. ( very unlikely )

As much as I'd LOVE to see Golems duke it out in combat it seems very unlikely
Heh, I just realized on the model I screwed up. Ya know how the arms have the same texture on the front? I was going to do the same thing with the legs and rotate it 180 degrees. Guess I forgot. Won't bother redoing it though...

Jeb has at least hinted at a possible addition of mummies to the game already. I think they would be much more suitable tomb guardians. Besides, I don't see much need for two pyramid-specific mobs. That said, while I don't support this, it isn't because it's a bad idea. It's actually rather well thought-out (though I think the creeper face on the sides of the head looks silly).

Actually, if Mummies were added in to protect the Pyramids, it would actually turn out to be much easier to kill than the Gold Golem. Why? Because they're not made of Gold. Meaning, you can just be the living heck out of them with a Wooden Sword, and escape the Pyramid unharmed on your first night. Besides, it could turn out to be another variant of the Zombie, with only a few differences. Gold Golems prevent that, and you need to have a lot in order to slay it, making the treasure actually a reward for killing the gold golem. I hope this changes your mind.

No! We're at 89%!
Ummm...what? How does the fact that it is not gold amount to anything, in terms of game mechanics?
If this idea were implemented, it would get changed. That's just how these things work. That might mean the golem is so slow as to not even be a threat. It might mean it becomes something the player can make. It might mean that someone decides, "Hey, the Egyptians really loved cats, so maybe it shouldn't harm you if you ever tamed one!" It's all speculation until it comes out.
Conversely, yes, a mummy might be just like a Zombie. On the other hand, it might be fast. It might have arms that extend several blocks, ala Castlevania. It might inflict negative status effects on the player, either as a "mummy's curse" or in the form of a cloud of "toxic spores" that fly off of it whenever it's hit with an attack. Once again, you just don't know.

Very good points you pointed out there. What I meant that Mummies aren't made of Gold, is that Gold Golems should have a bigger and solid defense against any Players, creating a challenge. They will take far more hits then a Mummy could. Surely yes, Mummies can be made to act completely different then zombies and can be formed into tough opponents, obviously.

Another good point. However, worthwhile treasure will not just be given toward you right away. If Gold Golems are just going to be put out there to guard treasure, then they should be given the AI to do it right. Meaning, they should be very hard enemies that should be put off to the side until you are ready to face them. They should be thought of as a Mini-boss, which has treasure waiting for you if you defeat it. So if any changes are to be made to the Gold Golem, then they shouldn't be given weaknesses for a change.
I like this a lot better than mummies as its original, interesting, and as leson says, mummies would normally be considered easier to hack apart with a sword than a creature of metal.
You may want to remake the poll (or the whole thread for that matter) in order to garner more support. Clean up your grammar a little, add some more pictures, see if you can get a mod made, etc.

I have been thinking about it.... Can you help me organize it? fix Grammar Ect. i have been trying to get a mod made for some time, so if you know anyone send em my way

Frankly, remaking polls is seldom a good idea, as many people may not even realize that the poll has been changed, and thus will not go back to update their votes. This can throw the whole count off.

This is why i have left the main poll where it is
