I would like to see a limited world option like there was in Indev. This doesn't mean you won't have infinite worlds anymore. It just means you will have an option to limit them to reduce FPS lag.
The main problem with limited worlds is resources are scarce- and a game like minecraft that demands resources means you must explore, which you cannot do in a limited world.
Then again, most things besides diamonds are renewable these days, anyways.

If you want to test out some of the game mechanics, or build small things to see what they look like, limited worlds are a better place to do that because it significantly reduces lag when starting a new world because of chunk loading.
They are not. The generated area is 8 times surface of earth, AND then Minecraft generates endless ocean.
The meaning of InfDev was to make the terrain Infinite , so it is infinite.
It isn't infinite however. The game starts glitching out at 10 million blocks(mainly redstone and piston glitches) and at 30 million blocks, the world just outright generates "ghost blocks" which basically don't exist and you fall into the void when you try to walk on them. If you fly in creative about 12 past this border, I believe you get permanently stuck unless you use a mod to kill yourself.

Not anymore. Wheat for emeralds for diamonds give infinite diamonds.

I would love it if you checked out my "about me" page on my profile and looked at my threads I'm always happy to see new posters.
This would in no way reduce lag. Since Minecraft at most (Vanilla) loads chunks in a 256 block radius it wouldn't matter how big the world is. Just lower your render distance.

This is a signature. There should be something here....
Oh wait! There is!
I almost never have laggs and I think its better to be able to make as much worlds as you want. If you get laggs, you can always remove worlds. Currently its up to you if you want to get laggs, but don't force people who don't have laggs to be limited wich is unnessesary.
I don't think you understood. At all.
TC isn't asking to have a forced limit on the number of worlds you can create, but an optional limit on the size of created worlds.
Just as you're not forced to play on superflat, you wouldn't be forced to play in a limited world. You would select that option only if you wanted it; either to test certain designs out, as TC suggested, or maybe to impose some kind of challenge on yourself.
I actually like this option, this way I wouldn't have to look forever for a stronghold. Also limited worlds are great for multiplayer due to the fact that if the world was limited to about 1024x1024 blocks there would be be limited resources and not infinite hiding places so PVP would be encouraged. Also eventually the map would be in some sense, beaten if you mined all diamonds.

You are 100% wrong, sir. You have obviously never played Indev.

Thanks for not reading my original post, where I said it should be an option.
In general, everyone gets lag in Minecraft, no exceptions. Play Indev (not INFdev) and tell me that it's not butter smooth.

By about 64,000,000 blocks.

Oh, look. Another person who failed to read my original post.
