So for the past month i have been trying to get my hands on a legit copy of Minecraft.Seeing how much i loved it i decided i wanted to buy a copy to help out Mojang and get those benefits you can only have once you bought it.Long story short.I tried to by it through Paypal using Moneypak and it turns out i am $2 short because of the conversion from USD to Euro.
Point is Mojang should have prepaid cards the same way Xbox Live,IMVU,And Runescape have.It shouldn't be a
journey to the unknown for someone to buy this incredible game. That is my suggestion.
I wouldn't consider that a good approach. The cost involved in producing, marketing and processing/activating those cards is insanely expensive. When its all said and done, they probably make less then half the normal profit, and would need a large, steady volume to keep up with the system fees they need to pay. MS points, and the cash shop MMOs can have that kind of volume, but the 1 shot license purchase wouldn't.
Trying to do something similar on their own, without the fraud prevention offered by the card activation process, also runs of the risk of entire blocks of codes being stolen and illiterately sold. Game boxes have a similar problem, but would still need publisher support or deals with Brick and Mortars to carry them.
As irritating as some people find paypal, the physical alternative is not always a better deal for developers.... especially smaller, self published teams.
They won't do this because there is an outlandish cost in the production of the cards in themselves. Pre-paid cards are usually for more than "one-time purchases". Each of the games you mentioned has the option for using money to get specific features or subscription time.
And the same day I see this post, the top news announcement is the availability of MC prepaid cards in North America with the rest of the world under consideration. :-)
It seems that they got around the problems somehow.
I laughed my ass of when I read all the 'they wont do this' posts XD And I suppose your right Wiseman

If you see me on this site, it's probably because I'm not particularly interested in it. Or I may be slightly intoxicated, though probably you won't see me here.
