i was playing pvp on a sever today when i got kill by a daimond sword that had a high sharpness i got spawn killed. i am starting to think that enchantments like fire aspecet and sharpness make the sword over powered so i think that when any tool gets enhanted it has a chance to get cursed a curse would give a negetive effect to the tool or user i thought of a few possible curses
for swords there could be a curse that after every hit you lose hunger or get food posioning some sort of negetive effect like weakness slowness
for picks and all those kind of tools there could be one that make you mine slower or a downgrade curse it would make daimond tools act like iron iron act like stone stone act like wood and wood acts like gold just it wouldnt mine as fast as gold
enchants are over powered and its kind of annoying
the point is so that nobody just goes and enchants a tool and just goes around spamming it like a daimond sword that has fire aspcet 3 sharpness 4 and everyones getting instantly killed
I like Lassens' idea more, I have to say.
Maybe a weapon with a normal enchantment just gives you a simple advantage, but a cursed one will give you a much greater advantage at the cost of a drawback, like permanently losing a few hearts while the sword is in your hand.
the point is the when you go to enchant a tool you have a risk of your tool getting cursed and enchanted for an example
you encahnted an iron sword and got sharpness 3 and the curse hunger 1 hunger reduces you hunger bar for every hit this way you cant just go around on a killing spee spamming the iron sword.
Overpowered???? Let me tell you something. One time, in Creative mode, I enchanted my diamond sword, for 42 xp, and I got Knockback 2. Yippidie do crap. Then, I spent 41 xp, and I got Sharpness 3, Looting 1, and Knockback 2. You get the idea.
This seems absolutely stupid. That means you basically want people to spend DOZENS of levels on enchanting their stuff just to have it get a shitty effect?
Let me tell you this, a guy could have a regular diamond sword, and if he is spawn camping you, he is probably going to destroy you regardless.

Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.

It's called a PvP server for a reason. Player vs player. And if one player isn't as well equipped than the other, then too bad.
