Use it for arrow tips. Instead of flint, lapis tipped will give a greater chance of a critical hit. You can follow this up with emerald tipped for instant criticals. This makes it valuable because it is also a currency its like throwing gold away. So you have to use it sparingly.
It is related to emerald as well. Discussion on using emeralds and new blocks to be introduced. If we can't use them as tools let us use them as components to tools maybe.
One, it doesn't matter if it involves emerald, it's still a suggestion. And a fully charged arrow shot is already critical 100% of the time. And neither of those things make sense to use as an arrow head.
The only other things that make sense to use for arrow heads other than flint are iron and obsidian
Actually, emeralds also make sense, in a very reference-y sort of way. The emerald sprite kind of looks like rupees, and in the original Legend of Zelda, your rupees also acted as your arrows.
