They are NOT useless.
There are spawn chunks which are always loaded and some people want, for example a witch farm that is always on.
Yes, Minecraft has mildly boring terrain but that does not render seeds useless.
Some people just want a world that they don't have to waste 30 minutes running around from place to place.
I only agree with the part of your post that says 'Minecraft has mildly boring terrain'.
Hello all I have returned from a long unexpected vacation but I just got a brand new laptop today and so long as I can keep up with the payments my next issue irl, shouldn't be an issue that affects you guys. I have a LOT of catching up to do it seems like, I was hoping this thread hadn't died while I was gone, sent a few fellow supporters a PM asking to keep it alive, I received no reply, so was unsure but am glad to see it didn't.
That being said, URtehBEST, I don't think they are literally useless, you can't take the OP as 110% literal. You have to read into the detail to gain a better understanding of the overall concept

But there is another thread on this and it's much larger.
Perhaps join with them.
There are many many threads about this on these forums and we are affiliated with almost all of them, just check out my About Me on my page and you will see. I have some there that I check on every so often. Granted, I haven't been on any in a while because of some issues that have kept me from doing so, but they are still fairly active and could greatly use all of your support
I never played before 1.2.5, but before that sounds pretty cool. I sometimes use seeds, sometimes think they are useful. I kind of support this topic, because I have never seen a sunset from a massive cliff over hanging an ocean surrounded by islands. I do want to, so 95% support.
Lol thank you FireWarrior for your support I kinda wanna go through and add up all the supporters i got during my absence, but it was so long there's no telling how many there are now. I might just put 500+ supporters and add another 100 everytime I estimate we've gotten that many xD But that wouldn't be fair or accurate lol.
I think you and I are going to be good friends. I mean REALLY here is the only seed that is original: Snowdek. and its not even a good weird! try it: an Island that looks like a dragon, And a SINGLE BLOCK IN THE MIDST of the ocean!
Due to a semi-popular demand, I've decided to add a poll to the topic. Since it was moved to the suggestions board without my consent, I guess I feel that it technically does deserve a poll if the MCF Staff want to see this as a "suggestion" rather than a discussion. That being said, I'm going to update the OP soon, and I hope that all supporters of this thread will add their votes.
I want to remind everyone - this thread is not asking for the 1.7 map generator back! That is the last thing we want! Honestly who wants floating islands of gravel and random jagged dirt and sand hills in the middle of a snowy plain? We're not nostaglics on a trip or a bunch of randoms missing the old map generation - we are simply supporting one cause: To add height variation to all biomes in 1.2.5 and to have caves sytems actually come to an end eventually, and appear less often (as well as mineshafts)
Since 1.2.5 is pretty outdated too, it may be a good idea to change it to 1.5.2 or to "current generator" or whatever.

Amazing.
Today I haven't played MC the whole day and I went to watch some old MC vids. I ended up watching Sly when he played 1.3_01. I almost cried when I realised the difference. I started MC a long ago, but just... I never really noticed this... The whole terrain gen thing... just wow.
I went looking for a mod that adds the whole floating islands, awesome overhangs and mountains, cave spawn rates minimized... and I found nothing. Literally nothing. Then I saw your thread, read everything and almost ended up crying of how true that is. I made a MCF profile just because of this. I totaly support this and I agree with everything. About the cave gen, I think that caves should be as the same as they were before, but I don't think that ravines should be removed. I think their spawn rates should be lowered (A LOT!).
But there is one thing I do not agree with. The floating Islands. I think they should be re-added in almost all biomes but less spawn rates.
EDIT: I don't mean on those boring small floating islands of gravel and sand. I was thinking of the jaw-drop islands that never ever look the same!, and make you just want to build a house up there, high in the sky!

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

However, I am a person of the ocean. Without a view of one, there isn't a house for me in minecraft. I still want large oceans.

Thank you I'll change that as well. That's why I didn't put 1.5.2 in the poll either didn't want to have to update it every time the game update, lol.
