I agree, Mojang is currently only focusing on the structures, mobs, etc. and not on the terrain itself, new biomes would be nice and randomized mountains, flatland. The only problem is I don't think Mojang will read the thread since there are many other threads.
Just as an addition, I feel that the top half of the world is unused.
When the world height expansion was released, I felt excited; I thought that I would now be able to explore giant mountains of epic proportions. I felt disappointed when I realized that Mojang included it to give us "room to breathe".
I don't mean to be petulant, but this seems to me to be a lazy design choice.
As a minecraft veteran (Classic 0.24) I experienced the wonders of randomness, no seeds, your world. You could have a beautiful waterfall and behind that, an overhang and a small passage leading to the other side of the mountain, and then bam! A lake surrounded by cloud-reaching mountainous forest. You could have endless caves leading into a complete swiss cheese area leading to endless battles with mobs, where coal was your best friend, but rare to find. Where oceans had an end (One of my favorite tings about old world gen) Why not add that back? The wonderful randomness where regardless of biome you could find jaw-dropping structures?
I actually like endless caves but their are way too common
I remember the days where you'd come to a forest at the end of a plain and you'd go through for a while. Then you'd climb a tree to see where you where, and you'd see extreme mountains, with forests and streams and flowers in their valleys. And at the top of those mountains were snow, and it was fantastic. Now, the coolest thing I've ever found is three trees on top of a mountain. No awesome terrain.
This is a very good idea. It would be even better if Mojang added to the vanilla game the Big Trees mod. No, I don't mean download it, I mean add it to vanilla Minecraft along with this. Then we will know true amazing pie.
However, I do not agree with removing seeds. Then, how would you share your 'Awesome Pants Pie' world with the other players?
Thank you all for your support. I'm getting rather irritated at the amount of updates Minecraft is coming out with and they're all so ... pathetic really. imo anyway. All they are are a hassle to get servers updated. Nothing more. They aren't adding any new and exciting features (Although the fireworks were kidna neat). They are doing little things that no one really pays much attention to and are completely skipping over the big issue here that all of the MC playerbase are talking about. The poor terrain generation :/ again, it's like a slap in the face more than anything. It's rather annoying and is getting really old, really quick.

ok one i agree on some parts but you over exagerate a lot of things. like the lack of people sharing seeds for terrain or no caves that end. both happen quite a bit actually how ever i agree on one thing mojangs attempts to make terrain realistic in a lot of ways make it less realistic realistic is variety not repetition all plains and deserts are the same unless you find desert hills still boring theres no enough biomes either and ton often there is a snow biome right next to a desert biome. id love to see small bits of 1.7 added into the new terrain and less mobs and confusing crafting recipes. i partially support you. one last thing youd be good in a debate.

Life if you give me one more batch of lemon i'm going to get a hammer beat them poor the juice into some water guns and squirt them in yours eyes.

I'll try to comprehend this as best as I can. If such things happen, it's done by new players or for stuff in EH biomes or X-hill biomes which always look the same.
There are many good tweaks that they could make to the world generator, from things like caves not being evil to mountains that have ice and snow at the top. I really love these kinds of threads that say what we love to hear. I do really hate full-release MC worldgen.

This is my reaction:
HECK YES.
Also, in video settings they should add lens flares, for better minecraft movie graphics. Maybe this could be in 1.6 or even 1.5
Well seeds arent useless your title should be biomes are useless or something like this because biomes are the boring part of it.
Seeds generate the endless world of minecraft what will not be endless without seeds it will end generating when your computer cant hold it anymore.
I want the old terrain generation style back, but no, seeds are still useful.
The only things seeds are useful for are for finding the Adventure Update structures (villages, etc), dungeons, and for biome placement. Other than that, each world is identical, thus making the use of seeds relatively useless.
I totally disagree to this thread, if you don't like the natural terrain use a mod that makes extremly awesome and realistic terrains! It's epic! No support. 0% My support is not yours, okay, I think you get the idea.

So 1.7.3 didn't have natural terrain? So you don't think the terrain is repetitive? Lolwut.

so, you can get worlds as they where before. good idea?
How about let Mojang fix the world generation so it becomes "regular" again and not boring mode.
Something about blocks.
Full support, well said my good sir.
