Lol. To be honest, I usually spend a majority of my time blowing everything right to hell. While I like the idea of absurd land marks, I don't really see a point considering I am just gonna blow it up.

I play a game called Blockland. It is, in NO way, a copy of Minecraft. In fact, Blockland is about a year or so older.
When I first got minecraft, which, admittedly was after 1.8, I was satisfied by exploring. I would play creative; not to build but to fly and explore. That got old quickly. I want new maps. Maps where there are things worth exploring.

My current avatar is Gyro Zeppeli from the popular manga Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. He's my favorite character. I love his optimism, dry humor, and his ability to do considerable damage even without a stand.
I've played minecraft since before there were even beds. Now looking back on old worlds I can honestly say "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMM!!!!!! Minecraft worlds suck now!" I never really noticed it until now, but now that you pointed it out I am a little upset about this. I want my fun and intresting worlds back! I am sick of these stupid caves that set me for life in that world! I want to actually have to mine to get my materials again! Now I only have to walk 5 meters from my spawn to find a cave entrance, then I only have to follow that cave for a few minutes and, BOOM, a crap load of diamonds! The game has no challenge anymore because of these stupid new world generators! I am now a solid supporter of this cause. BRING BACK THE FUN WORLDS!
Just the other day, I was wandering through a terribly uninteresting in-game grassland, getting nostalgic over the memories of one of my first bases. It was located a hop, skip, and jump from a massive floating island, and nestled in the cleft of three bizarre-but-gorgeous mountains. The backyard was a canyon that opened to a half-flooded desert, and the front yard a forest interrupted in places by shrine-like outcroppings of water and stone. All that fantastical landscaping, plus dozens of other neat little bits and pieces, was only the tiniest corner of a world I would love, love, love to explore again! So, sign me up! At the very least, maybe Jeb will put in a new world generation option-classic or something

Hello everyone! I am just making you all aware of my return! I am happy to see this thread hadn't died during my absence. I plan to get on later this evening to update the support list. I will not view/respond to any messages directed toward me during my absence because that's a lot of reading to do. If there's anything you'd like to say to me directly please let me know after this post I will go through and add everyone who /supported, but I do not have the time to sit and read everything.
I am glad to be back and can't wait to see if anything has changed yet!

Honestly could not agree more with this thread, i spend around 90% of my time mining, and only go exploring to find animals to lure back to my house, or to find a mushroom biome.
What i do now when i spawn in a world.
1) standard procedures (punch a tree, get coal, etc)
2) make my house within 50 blocks of spawn.
there is no point in exploring now, as all terrain is the same,
(once you've seen one desert, or plains, or mountain
you've seen them all)
3) mine. i dont even shaft mine anymore really.
I just make long tunnels searching for a cave,
where i can find sometimes upwards of 30
diamonds in less than a half hour.
4) make a new world. once i'm
rich on diamonds and iron, theres not
much else to do. I dont know how people
who do let's plays do it. I cant stay in one
world for more than a week before I
get excruciatingly bored and stop.
I used to play minecraft in my first world for
upwards of 7 or 8 hours on weekends.
(yes, i game too much). Now I play no more
than an hour in any of my worlds.
while the updates are not hurting, with jungles
and stuff like temples and villages, that was
an early attempt at making the world more explorer
friendly.
My dad summarized the generation in 1.8 better
than anyone I know.
his first reaction was
"what did they do to it? its
god awfully boring, i haven't found
anything bigger than a tiny sloped
bulge in the ground for a half hour now!"
Hmmmm. I like your points, minecraft is just too.......flat, I went to explore one time, half an hour of exploring, nothing cool, its just sooooo boring, mojang should implement the better generation mod, since it does at the LEAST add some of the generation factors that the op wants, but it doesn't put the bad parts of the 1.8 generation, and they did make exploring easier, I support your ideas wholly, and happily

Master of darkness and light, bound to no element, this entity is ruthless, cruel, but fair, when he looks at you he sees your whole soul, and if your heart is tipped to the darkness, or to the light, run, and hope he doesn't think you're worthy....

He said in the OP that mods are a temporary fix, and we need a permanent one.

I know, if you read the whole post, I said that mojang should use that mod as a start to better their generation

BWG doesn't fix the main problems with the generator and actually introduces a few of it's own.
height elevations, more overhangs, better generation of clay, better villages, more worldtypes, what more do you want!?, do you want the old generator, because the 1.7 had a lot of bugs, and too many buggy generations..

i cant build or survive, so i explore in creative. but lately its getting a little boring. Everything is: Jungle then Desert then forest then ocean then islands then waaay more ocean. The only part i like about vanilla minecraft now is large archipalegos with trees and small caves. Also i completely support different cave sizes, i am making an underground maze map since 1.2.5 and im not even half done.
EDIT---------
I found awesome seed for remembering the terrain and sort of living it again. It is -1951420341 (for minecraft 1.4.6). If you simply walk forward there are some incredible overhangs, randomly placed pillars and an underground lake (NOT in a cave) if you go far enough.

You and many others my good sir
What it does fix:
-Underwater bedding/beaches.
-Grass colors (somewhat).
What it does NOT fix:
-Biome transitions.
-Grass colors (jungles get the same problem as vanilla swamps).
-Lack of height variation.
-Lack of biome variety.
Worldtypes are irrelevant as they do not fix the main worldtype. Villages are also not a problem.
