Yup! This is the problem it seems that ever since 1.8 and later the cave systems are just over abundant and endless. It no longer feels rewarding to stumble upon a cave ... and to be quite frank I kind of miss the feeling of being disappointed when I find a dead end cave after searching for fifteen minutes! I know that sounds silly, but that's just one of the many things that used to make Minecraft.. Minecraft. That's why I felt the need to create this thread. Thank you for your support!
Exactly. With the new terrain it is easy to build homes almost anywhere, but what fun is building a home when you can't even watch the sunset between two mountainous terrains off in the distance across a vast wide open ocean?
I do have a seed with some smaller caves... and a villiage... and an ore crater... and you can find what you want in some extreme hills biomes.

I find nothing wrong with the terrain. People show videos of generated structures because that's what people want. People want to explore and find treasure and see things that make them think, "How did this get here? Who made this?" Instead of people seeing mountains and jungles that make them say, "Oh well that's normal just a jungle. Whatever." Just some people get to attached and can't let go of the old stuff. When they can't let go, they don't realize how amazing the new stuff is. I mean, haven't you ever seen and abandon mine and thought, "Wow I wonder who built this. Why is there no one here?" It adds mystery to the game and makes you wonder and imagine the possiblities. Then you make your own story and it becomes fun. Like, "Well this mine is abandon and there are alot of monsters. So maybe it got over run by monsters. I should fix it up and get rid of the monsters. Maybe add some villagers for miners and make it my own mine! Cool!"

Bro. You're totally missing the concept of this thread. You're acting like we want abandoned mines, ravines, and villages removed. The weird thing is that wasn't even mentioned in OP. The thread's title isn't exactly 100% factual, but you have to realize a whole chunk of meaning was taken out of seed-sharing. Now it's all about terrain placement and "OOOO I FOUND A VILLAGE BIGGER THAN THE GIRTH OF MY PENIS." Whoopdeedoo. I've seen it all before and now it's boring. Instead of just terrain placement and structure placement, let's have all of those plus height variation, cave size variation, and randomness in general. Then everything in the Seeds forum won't always be "Big Village" or "Survival Island" or "Spawn next to village."

Have you ever considered that people post seeds of generated structures because that's pretty much the only thing that sets seeds apart from each other nowadays?
------
Also, interesting tidbit: if you download this utility, download the minecraft server stuff (you need the server for this utility because it works by taking a server and changing the spawn point to generate terrain), and then map it (mcmap, or, if you don't mind finding the incomplete but functional Anvil compatible version, Cartograph G), you'll notice that the biomes pretty much look like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. I might upload some renders demonstrating this later.
(Also, sorry for the double post, since usually it automatically combines the posts after I double post, so I posted expecting that to happen, but this time it didn't for some reason)

Actually ... if you look at the related threads section of the OP you will see other threads where thousands of people have followed similar concepts.
It is. I'm not even going to argue with you. You have to understand to take some negative opinions, and this is one right here.
Explain why you think the terrain is 'fine' as is. The opinion of some random person on the internet is worth nothing without reasons behind it.
The variety has gone way down, and to me that is anything but fine. Why even have would seeds anymore if every world is practically the same? Maybe you just don't care about terrain, in which case your opinion doesn't really hold any weight. More likely, I think, is that you're one of the many people who have never seen the old terrain and don't know what's missing.

I've seen the old terrain, and it's better than our current terrain, but have to admit you can't simply make each structure vary from the next just because it looks boring. Plus whenever I don't get a "feeling" from the terrain, and for say you had a jungle biome, and one part is high and one is low, it's kind of supposed to be like that. Better terrain would be nice, but what would the point be? Most people don't even go anywhere beyond their house in singleplayer and multiplayer worlds, so the varies of land wouldn't matter. Seeds like gargamel and glacier truly showed the way the terrain SHOULD be, but I l'd much rather have genuine structures being generally rare.

While I do like the old generators better, the reason is because they were better generators, not because of a nostalgia trip.
I'm open to a new generator as long it's good!

I wouldn't mind if a plain was like this once in a blue moon. The problem is that ALL plains are like this. >_>
No support. The terrain in Minecraft is fine as it is.

I mean, at first I thought,"Da fuq?!?!?!"
But I read closer.I understand and support it,but I DO miss the 1.7 terrain...Heh.Its just fun to prank your friends with floating islands.
Agreed.BRING BACK THE OLD WORLD TERRAIN GENERATOR!
No it's not.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
