I agree 100%. Map generation these days seems like everyone has the same map. Everything looks the same. For gods sake its a game not a reality simulator!
Unlike most of you, I can't claim to be nostalgic, since I did not begin playing minecraft until 1.8. But whenever I look at what the terrain used to be, I want to cry. It used to be so varied and colorful, but now I wander for hours, and for what? Another giant cave system? A village? These are great, but I wish I had been around when someone could find enormous overhangs and impossible mountains. I'd take beauty and quality over realism any day. I've tried mods, seeds, and custom maps, but nothing is quite the same. I want to be enthralled by my worlds, with all the new features. Full support from me -- I hope that Mojang hears our pleas and answers with glorious world generation!
EDIT: 3 friends of mine want to be added to the support list, but don't have forum accounts. Please add us to the support list!
There is absolutely nothing to hate on this thread. It shows that this Op Creator really wants more terrain diversity, and really has put the effort into it, and I'm sure a lot more people choose to be on his side then haters.
Yes, sometimes I even like to take pictures of the wonderful wonders of a Minecraft World, and now, most of it has disappeared. It was some of the more breathtaking views of Minecraft. I would downright love it if this was put back into Minecraft, and yes, mods won't fix it, sometimes it may not have even fixed the problem at all. this thread shows true aspects of what a thread should look like and be like, therefore giving me his support.
I support this 110%. I hate the new terrain generator. It's a good thing I got into map making because survival is a bore to me since everything is pretty much the same. Flat and lifeless. This is what you get when you add realism to a game.
Sir, you have my full support. Pre-1.8, I could get the most fabulous terrain by shoving my face into the keyboard. Now I have to CTRL-C, CTRL-V, its becoming stupid.
Beta 1.7.3
I would bash my face on the keyboard multiple times, resulting in something along the lines of ueujum8iszunya8inIU(Ou8iUNI8IU9Ouo8u, then essentially spawn in the most amazing world ever.
Beta 1.8.0
The most exciting thing I got was a giant survival island, and a perfect opportunity to make a dwarven fortress, unfortunately wasted on one such as me.
1.2.3
Okay, Mojang, you are starting to REALLY annoy me with flat biOMAGAWD A VILLAGE!
NO REALLY, NOWADAYS ITS VILLAGE, STRONGHOLD, RAVINE, 9001 DIAMOND SEED, SURVIVAL ISLAND...
Ahem, anyway, I give this my full support, and hope that mojang actually does care about us.
Support list updated. 14 added. That is amazing. I finally visit the thread one day with no hate posts or people dogging on my thread title I didn't think it was possible, haha.

Minecraft is just a game. The reason terrains aren't super awesome is because you don't need that to survive. In mountain seeds, you can get cobblestone and way to easily. I like having a seed where my house is in the field biome, to the South is the cave system, to the West is the forest, to the East is the jungle, and to the North is more field for bigger wheat plantation. I think the seeds are just fine, and Mojang already has too much to worry about, so go starting a revolution.DON'T START A REVOLUTION ON MOJANG

DON'T START A REVOLUTION ON MOJANG
We are not "starting a revolution" we are simply supporting a cause that we think should be implemented back into Minecraft. With the update we are suggesting the terrain you mentioned would not be taken away. You will still be able to find terrain like the one you mentioned, it just won't be exactly like that everywhere that you go. Mountainous terrain isn't uncommon in extreme hills biomes (I am not saying mountains exist in Minecraft) and it amazes me how you refer to cobblestone as "too easily obtainable" as if it is a rare block or something. I am sorry but a cobblestone generator is so easy to make therefore giving players the ability to make infinite cobblestone, so there's nothing to complain about in that aspect
If you have any more questions about our cause, then please by all means feel free to ask, but don't come in here flaming us and telling us not to start a revolution because we are making a suggestion. That is just rude and unnecessary.
