Why doesn't everyone in support of this flood Jeb's Twitter about this (in a peaceful, none-argumentative way)? Nothing better than a unified community effort with a well defined, clear goal (might want to build more on that part) to sway him in the right direction. Mojang has always strived to please the customer and everyday Minecraft gamer. I Support this goal, and nothing will happen if you don't actually fight (again, peaceful, none-argumentative) for it.

Minecraft's community? Unified? For certain, that will never happen. I say just flood Jeb's twitter with stuff related to this topic. Might want to throw in links to this thread and the related threads as well. The moderators here can ban me if they want if I'm "promoting spam." I frankly don't give a **** because we've had this problem since 1.8.
This signature has absolutely no point at all. And then it has a point to inform you that it has no point, but it has no point because it really doesn't have a point, but it has a point because it tells you it has no point... and ah, screw this.
I support this. The new seeds are boring. Even mod terrain generators don't do it well. I have chunk error-ed a few maps just to spawn new and exciting terrain.
This is the sad truth. We need our giant mountains back... I miss when there would be a giant overhang with thousands of monsters, ready to give me the death screen. D:
I completely agree with everything here. On that, there would be no sense in elaborating. However, I would like to add an additional change to the biomes: grass color. I so miss the rich, green, beautiful grass and trees in 1.7. It made the landscape so much richer and prettier. Now, we have this ugly, dull light shade of green for most of the terrain. I say, bring back the old colors! Even if the terrain itself is different, a change of the colors would be so nice. And you don't have to recode anything... there's a certain .png(I forgot the name) that you can just change the gradients of and you're set.
I happen to agree that the old generation was more exiting. However, I also see the appeal in wanting a "realistic" feel for a survival game.
The solution: why not allow for both kind of world generation, if possible? Have an option for "realistic landscape" and another for "creative landscape" or something.

Implying what we have now is even close to realistic.
Here, I'm going to post something on-topic for the thread title, and what I was expecting on first click rather than a big (if perfectly valid) rant about the new terrain generators. My problem isn't so much with the terrain per se (since I can still get all that out of 1.2.5, it just takes a lot more retrying and looking around, albeit I've never seen really big structurally unrealistic overhangs and floating mountains, I have seen epic overhangs and floating stuff, but infrequently.)
No, what my problem is, what I was about to post a topic on when I searched, is that world seeds from one version produce completely different maps in a different version of Minecraft. This is the best known example:
-3414234582187284145
(begin pasted style) I got it from a Youtube video with almost six hundred thousand views. It might seem familiar even if you don't recognize it. Try it out at home. If you don't recognize the map, get the old minecraft.jar for Release 1.0.0 and try again. If you _still_ don't recognize the map, then the name Paul Soares Jr. should also seem unfamiliar. This is the seed for his Tutorial World II for Season 2 of Survive and Thrive. Follow the comments in the applicable video: (end pasted style)
The world this seed generates is completely unrecognizable in Release 1.2.5. You spawn into a convenience store's automotive aisle (after the Car-Freshner (sic)) surrounded by Little Trees (tm). My comment on Youtube:
(begin pasted style again) "I have investigated the 1.2.5 map generation issues, with this seed the generated locality is nearly unrecognizable (not just slightly different), and I spawn one block north of a four high tree trunk. F3 gives seed as 577282965, x as -239.5, and z as 208.5. I've gotten these results four times. If you get this result as well, please vote this comment up."
You only barley spoke about seeds so you can have the misleading title. This was about terrain generation and how you think all worlds are nearly the same. Also, before you go all "U CWEARLY DUNT REED IT AULL", I did it was long repeative and barley kept my attention. Maybe it might of kept me more focused if I din't mainly work on flat worlds but hey, you need to appeal to your audience.
It is closer to realistic than 1.7.
I believe you read it all. I just do not believe you fully comprehend it. The seeds part is actually more of a rant and add-on to the original suggestion of better map generation. In my, (and many others') opinion, the current terrain generator is repetitive and boring therefore rendering seeds useless. And while this may seem exaggerated, it is only to prove a point. It is not to be taken 100% literal I apologize if the "misleading" thread title angered you in any way, lol.

About grass, it always annoyed me that the top color was always accordingly to biomes, and that the side was always the old alpha green.
I like the new biomes, but after you explore them, IT GETS SO FREAKING BORING! I missed 1.7 when there were amazing views and it was fun to explore. Now, everything is just crap. Maybe (but very unlikely), in the 1.3 update Notch will give us our amazing landscape back.
I totally agree with this, I have both the XBOX version, which is 1.6.6 I believe, and I also have the PC version. The PC version is just boring, very boring. I go on my XBOX and I have more fun on Single Player then I would on the PC Single Player. The PC goes like this, every time I start a new world and I begin building my home in a few minutes, there's so much flat land. However, when I play on the XBOX it's a whole other thing. I have to actually look for some flat land to build on, which usually takes me half a Minecraft day. However, everything I saw while looking for a flat area was amazing, large mountains, rivers, never ending forests.
I remember, in the old caves it took me absolutely forever to find diamonds. Now, when I was playing LAN with my friend on the new snapshot, One cave, 15 minutes, five diamonds.
Getting out is the only hard part about caving anymore.
Ever since 1.8, Minecraft has changed for the worse, but the land generation? Worst of all. Everytime I start a new world its in a boring flatland with tall grass or a taiga. Minecraft singleplayer isn't fun anymore. I support
Ok. New method! ALL TWEET TO @DINNERBONE
He Works with Jeb. And the others on mc now.
But Dinnerbone tweets more often to questions/mc things.
Only has 10,000 followers. So If we tweet him all this link. we might even get the old terrain back?
Does Dinnerbone have a specific role at Mojang or Minecraft?

You do realized the X-Box version is based off the PC versions' Beta 1.7.3 ofcourse its awsome but i will soon be ruined

Then you have never seen pre-1.8 terrain. Its rather hard to describe, but when you see a world, you'll know
