I would like to see added the ability to craft different types of fences and ladders from the different types of wood. maple would offer no change from what we have now. Birch would produce white pickett fencing and trellis for ladder. Pine would make tall stockade fence and thick "barn" ladders. Jungle wood would make a tiki style fence and ladder. Obviously the sticks would be different for each type of wood block they come from. You would need all of the same type stick for the fence/ladder you wish to build. You could mix and match for tools, rail, pictures, ect. though.
Didn't you bother reading the post Directly bellow yours: http://www.minecraft...st__p__15132422
Which says pretty much what your suggesting before you suggested it?
It does not mention what I suggested. It simply suggested colors of end items match the color of the wood they come from. I am suggesting changing the complete look of the item to match the corresponding wood. You obviously didn't understand what I wrote. Glad I could clear it up for you.
Obviously I didn't, and still don't, because I fail to see a distinguishably significant difference between a color tint depending on the wood you use and applying a different texture depending on the wood you use. Both are accomplished the same way and involve the same mechanics. Same idea, different outcomes "tint vs texture".
From this standpoint, what would be easier to implement initially? Tinted colors would follow pre-existing mechanics already added to the game (i.e. it would be natural to assume that after adding tinted wood block, then tinted wood half blocks, you could add tinted stair wood blocks and tinted fence blocks and tinted ladder blocks). That being the case, it would be more strategically sound to get the aforementioned post supported, then just use a texture pack to promote your idea clearly and more effectively.
