I was reading some of the mob "upgrades" that people have been posting and I thought "instead of adding those capabilities to the already available mobs, why not add some more.
Example: The End dimension. A nice big area with how many mobs? Two. Only two. Surely I'm not the only one who has thought there should be more than just that. I figure that there should be some creatures that only spawn in the End, just like how there are Nether exclusives mobs as well. And how many do we have there? Four
Why do we have four in the nether but only two in the end? (One of them is a boss and the other isn't exclusive like nether mobs)
So, to cut a long story short, does anyone have any ideas for any mobs? I thought of:
Scavengers: Swooping birds that attack if you go near their nest (will hold 2-3 eggs if the scavenger is killed). Each egg will look like a spawn egg,but will not act like one. They will need to be placed in a nest sitting under light (Nests can be crafted the same way you would craft and iron, diamond or gold block, but with sticks). Destroying one of their nests would not bear a nest, but will drop sticks, but not enough to make a full nest again (just like when a boat is destroyed).
Bandits: People in cloaks that attack on sight like other mobs. Have a very large LOS and move very fast. Like Endermen, their attacks do a lot of damage, however they are very easy to kill. (I have seen the upcoming update and liked the idea of currency, so...) They can steal off of villagers that are not in houses and when killed will drop a certain amount of the new currency (depending on the value of it, will be determined later).
The faces under their cloaks have a strange resemblance to testificates.
Guardians: These only spawn under level 20 and only ever hang around near diamonds, however, they will not be right next to them. This means that if you see on of these guardians, you can guarantee that there are diamonds nearby, but they might not be that close. The guardians will not attack unless you are seen by one mining the diamond ore they are protecting.
I also thought that they could naturally spawn in strongholds or abandoned mines. In strongholds they would attack on sight and in abandoned mines they would only attack if you get close to any chests with valuable materials.(Keep in mind that if they were to spawn in either of these areas, they would not be limited by the level they were at. This would also go for spawning them with spawn eggs. Like endermen, they are provoked if you look directly at them, but they will not attack. They will keep their distance and watch you, or they would fly at you to try to scare you. If being followed by a guardian, they will never go onto the surface. They would get to a certain point (marked by natural light level or what layer they were on) and from there they would simply turn around and walk away.
Sleepers(Terrible name, anyone got better?): Animals that resemble the same look as a small bear, they sleep anywhere. These animals would sleep during the day and awaken at night to roam around. If you find a sleeper you would have to sneak past them, as sprinting, splashing, falling more than three blocks or breaking materials near them would cause them to wake up and attack.
I thought also of something exclusive to the end, but I couldn't think of a good name (all I could think of wash a cruncher, but i didn't like the 'er' sound on the end). These mobs would crawl around the end, (on the top sides and bottom, as they can latch in to any surface) eating the end stone, and either placing it back down as endstone somewhere else, or turning it into new spires (1x1x) of obsidian.
If anyone has anything else to add please do, and if anyone can please make this into a mod i can put on my minecraft.
THANKS!!!
Not to bring down your enthusiasm or anything like that but Mojang has other things to work on than Mobs.
I'm not really interested in your new mobs anyways. The Scavenger is nice but it doesn't really serve any purpose really other than to be a nuisance like creepers. Not to mention that it seems a little odd that you would want to create a nest...
I'm not too fond about the Bandits myself; again, they just seem like a nuisance.
I do like the concept of the Guardian. It gives players a reason to be ready to fight if they want some diamonds or whatever. That feeling of "I earned this Diamond" is what players should be getting rather than digging all the way down and getting Stone to Iron to Diamond in a couple hours without having to really worry about anything.
I really like that.
The sleepers seem...dumb. They are really helpful and if anything, you can just kill it anyways without any trouble anyways.
Anyways, I like the Guardian idea and I would like that Mobs would get more aggressive and stronger as you venture further from the surface (that way people can't just mine all day and not really have to worry about anything. It makes the game boring in the sense of not really expecting any threats around).
Anyways, pretty good thread but we have hundreds of them either dead or brought up again and again like this one.

Sorry i forgot to add that you can hatch the eggs and they will protect you like wolves

I'm gonna have to agree here. I'd rather have a new original mob rather than some cheap repackage.
Example: The End dimension. A nice big area with how many mobs? Two. Only two. Surely I'm not the only one who has thought there should be more than just that. I figure that there should be some creatures that only spawn in the End, just like how there are Nether exclusives mobs as well.
Well, the dimension is called The End. I always though it made sense to just have Endermen and the Enderdragon there. Now that I really think about it, I guess new mobs in this dimension might work if some serious balance and thought was put into them.
Why do we have four in the nether but only two in the end? (One of them is a boss and the other isn't exclusive like nether mobs)
The End is meant to be a mysterious unknown dimension where only "Ender" beings originate from. The Nether is meant to be a more hostile, fiery and hellish place, which gives more incentive for more kinds of mobs to exist here.
So, to cut a long story short, does anyone have any ideas for any mobs? I thought of:
I'd throw in some ideas, but sadly the best I've come up with is this.
Is this for the Nether or the Overworld? It's pretty evident that you and me aren't the only ones wanting birds in Minecraft. I'm not really liking the ability to craft a nest, as that seems kinda pointless. Same goes for the eggs.
Bandits: People in cloaks that attack on sight like other mobs. Have a very large LOS and move very fast. Like Endermen, their attacks do a lot of damage, however they are very easy to kill. (I have seen the upcoming update and liked the idea of currency, so...) Eh... It seems a bit much to have both Bandits and Zombies to target the pacifist Villagers. I don't hate this idea, but I think Villagers are enough for now - enough humans mobs, that is.
Guardians: These only spawn under level 20 and only ever hang around near diamonds, however, they will not be right next to them. This means that if you see on of these guardians, you can guarantee that there are diamonds nearby, but they might not be that close. They would get to a certain point (marked by natural light level or what layer they were on) and from there they would simply turn around and walk away.
Having them near diamonds might hurt the rarity of the latter. We might find one small vein of diamonds after hours of skulking around in caves, only to be attacked by one of these guardians. I must say though, having them act like they're about to attack you is something I find quite clever. Still, I'd rather not have these guys breathing down my neck whenever I find something good. That's just me though.
A mob that makes use for the sneaking function? Sign me up. I'm not really liking the "small bear" look though. The best name I can think of for this mob at this exact moment is either "Wake" or "Slump".
I guess this is alright, assuming it somehow fits in The End. The best names I could think up for this mob is either "Latch" or "Clutch". Although those names don't sound very "Ender" like.
Sorry i forgot to add that you can hatch the eggs and they will protect you like wolves
Eh, that would make the game a little too easy in some cases, as we already got wolves and ocelots. Adding a third tamable creature might be a smidge overpowered.
