As we all know, things break in the real world. Glass breaks when you slam it into the side of a mountain. I think this should be in Minecraft. LET'S GET THIS STRAIGHT: I KNOW MINECRAFT IS NOT THE REAL WORLD. But if it isn't OP, it's useful and it fits in, why not?
So, HONING:
Honing is simple. First, you need a Honing Station, a simple Utility Block.
The empty block is a bucket.
Now, the Honing Station is used to... hone things. First, you need flint. Ancient people used sharp stones to make more sharp stones to make more sharp stones to kill animals. So, 5 flint is needed to hone a tool. The honing process will be complete in 5 seconds, and you have to be standing motionless in front of the station for the honing to be complete. If you go away. the flint and the tool will drop like from a crafting table. So, when the flint is all used up, you have a HONED TOOL! Tools that are honed will lose a quarter of their durability, but become obviously stronger. If it's an ore tool, it will drop an ore dust, which can be crafted into the respective mineral. Therefore, a honed wooden pick will lose a lot of its durability, but it will cut through rock almost as fast as a rock one. If you have any ideas on other things that can be honed, comment on it. Remember, HONING MEANS SHARPENING SOMETHING WITH A STONE OR OTHER DEVICES!
Then, SMASHING:
Smashing things is simple. All you need is a solid surface and something to be smashed. Here are things that can be smashed:
Cobblestone/Stone: Smashing it ten times on a surface will make it disappear and drop ten pebbles.
Pebbles: Smash it 5 times on a surface and it will turn into flint.
Glass Panes: Smash it 3 times on a surface and it will shatter into 5 glass shards.
TNT: Smash it 5 times on a surface and it will explode in your hand.
But why do I want glass shards, pebbles and so much flint? Here it is explained.
Glass Shards can be used to attack mobs. They deal nearly as much damage as an iron sword, but will break upon use and has a 20% chance to hurt you by a half heart every time. So, pretty much useless, but if you are in an emergency you can spam glass shards, as they have no attack delay.
Pebbles can be thrown, but cannot be thrown far. They deal half a heart damage to mobs and drop to the ground upon impact.. Again, can be spammed, but very weak.
FLINT! Flint is sharp, right? So they should act sharp! Flint will be able to break things almost as fast as wooden tools, but you will have a 50% chance to lose the drop. Also, it can't mine ores. In addition to that, flint will deal slightly less damage than a wooden sword, and can also be spammed.
How about diamond dust? I heard that people use diamond dust to sharpen their knives to a extreamly sharp edge. maybe diamond dust can be made from putting one diamond in a crafting table and get 9 dust? similarly, you get 1 diamond from 9 dust. maybe it can also be dropped from a diamond ore along with a diamond.

"Colder than the snow that blankets the earth" "Colder than the ice that cover the stones and freezes the rivers" "Colder than the north wind blowing through a winter-bound forest" "Colder than all these is the smile of a Shade of the Dark"
I like your ideas, but they all seem unnecessary and somehow already incorporated in the game by way of enchantments and such. Sorry, but this is obsolete and impractical.

We already have enough stuff in the game, we don't need anymore.
Jeb's just trying too hard at the moment, adding farmable cocoa beans and such: the game's perfectly fine as it is now.
