so, villages are kind of rare, but there are millions of seeds that can spawn you with at least one in sight of the spawn. and after village number 5, they get boring.
so, why not have different types of villages?
most biomes will have their own type of village and villagers.
snowy biomes: the villagers appear to be wearing fur cloaks to keep warm and some houses may have chests inside containing leather armor and snowballs. the village may spawn with snow golems nearby.
mountain biomes: villages are built into the side of mountains instead of on top of the ground to allow access. the villagers are holding stone picks but don't drop them on death.
there are 1-4 entrances and there is a room in the center of the village that has chests with a high probability of spawning ores, ingots, and diamonds. the village is made almost entirely of cobblestone, the only wooden parts being doors and bokshelves in the library room that is occasionally generated.
jungle biomes: the villages are generated on the tops of trees and where there would be wooden planks, there are now jungle leaves. where there would be cobblestone there are wooden planks. there may be tamed cats loyal to villagers. this is rare.
taiga biomes use oak instead of regular wood and forests use birch. the algorithm should be changed for villages in heavily wooded areas to pawn slightly rarer, but carve out the land to place themselves to make forest/taiga villages possible. taiga villagers look like the snowy villagers.
Not a bad idea actually. The only issue I could see with this is implementing each village in special ways. Specifically the jungle village idea seems like it could "stick out" like a sore thumb. But all in all I really like the idea. Shouldn't be to hard to run it so the code determines where it is placing a village -- and then checks the biome and places a specific type of biome.
They need to fix the main villages first though -- I often times still spawn with a village half-covered in gravel.
