Isn't it annoying trying to find your way back to the portal after having raided a nether fortress and not knowing where the portal is? Thats where this idea comes in! By using obsidian instead of iron and glowstone dust instead of redstone! The crafting recipe is the following:

Yes, but this is for those poor people who forget to bring those things, because it is much easier to bring one thing then to bring three, less things to forget about or lose.

If I recall correctly, compasses don't work in the nether.
I think instead of using glowstone dust, it should use an actual compass to craft.
I made it require glowstone to craft to make it that you needed to go to the nether first before you crafted the compass. Besides, glowstone isn't that rare and some should be found near the portal. Thanks for the suggestion!

Actually, (If I remember correctly) if you craft a map in the nether, you get a nether map. I could be wrong, though.
Back to the topic of the compass, somebody needs to show this to Mojang! This is a great idea! I always worry that I'll lose my portal.
