I'm sure this has been brought up many times.. but for example if you're in creative mode and you dig too deep and die.. you spawn in a whole new area far away from where you are building.. and sometimes lose what you have made.. it would be nice when you DIE you could spawn in the same area, or at least close enough to see what you're building. I worked 40 hours on this project and this happened to me and I lost it all.. I did not want to go looking for it fr 10 hours, lol.
Wait, you can't die in creative period...I've even flown into the void slightly to look at the rain from there. When I tried to die, it took me quite a while to get far enough in there, about 2-3 seconds, or at least enough to start flying.

Well, yeah...
Creative is supposed to stop you from dying, full-stop - and then it allows us to dig up this giant hole in time and space that we can fling ourselves into? When you fall through bedrock, you should spawn in flying mode back up in the clouds directly above where you fell.

Why should we add another item that does an almost identical job to an existing item?
Hopefully, you know that beds don't permanently set your spawn point; compasses still don't lead to them, and when they're destroyed, your spawn points reset. Maybe there could be an item (perhaps crying obsidian?) that permanently sets your spawn point.
Or, like you're now doing, place a temporary bed during the building.

Like, an option that allows one to control the spawn of where new players spawn or respawn after death without a bed.
It would be handy for, say, making sure players spawn where they should in an SMP map or something.
