Thank you for the guide. Don't see how I could have missed this. I've been gone for quite some time and beginning to be active again. How did I miss this anyway?! I love your sarcasm. Reminds me of... Me.
How did vague threads get removed from the rules? Were there many false reports or something?
According to sunperp, he said there was no consistent standard of vagueness, so they just dropped the rule altogether. Now people are spamming vague threads left and right. Woooo wooo! Go forums!

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.

So instead of clarifying the rule, or using common sense, eliminate it altogether? Ugh. This is just like the "there is no rule against necroing in the rules" crap I had to go through. They should really start writing down these unwritten rules and clarifying them.

Pretty much this.
I have no idea what was going through the mods' heads. Now people are farting out vague threads all over the place and getting away wi- Oh wait, I'm sorry, people are making troll accounts and abusing this lack of a rule so the trolls win and nothing can be done about it. You really think the mods would think about these things before removing a rule that was initially created for a reason.
What's next? We remove the 'no joke threads' rule because "people have different standards of what a joke is"?

I'm pretty sure there will now be a majority of vague threads over perfectly fleshed out ones. I've been a couple right now, and even through some in the past, and I've seen a few well-explained threads.
The vague threads are taking the world and there is nothing we can make about it our only mean of defense is sarcasm and criticism.

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move

Good, cause we are all on the NOPE train. Because the conducter of the NOPE train is immune to the plot. She's a spiced green Harisious named Navitrai.

I get that removing the vague thread rule was a seemingly rushed idea, but making it seem like the equivalent of making nuclear weapons legal is a little overboard.
It happened, brace for incoming flush of vague threads, let mods realise they need the rule back. Win - win.
Uhhh, right, that's cool... but... umm... What was your suggestion?
"So I was just mining for diamond when all of the sudden a creeper almost asploded but I got out of the way just in time but I lost the diamond vein I was going after and it took me a while to find another then I accidentally mined into lava and died because I didn't have water on me! So when I rezzed, my friend had to give me some diamond gear to help me get started again but I was PKed by another player and lost all of it again. I don't like him, his name is XXXXX and should be banned. After that, I searched again and found a village! It was soooo cool!"
Umm... Okay? So... Uhh... What are you suggesting?
This recommendation may be a bit weirdly worded, but I think it covers the minds of anyone that reads these little adventures. Sometimes I think the poster is abusing substances. Sometimes I think I need to start abusing substances to understand what the poster is saying.
They're entertaining reads, don't get me wrong here! I love reading this stuff, but I think these people forget that this sub-forum is for suggestions; and they may have missed that forum of "general discussion" a few clicks back.
In many ways, you can see an attempt to come to a point, but the poster is either way too excited or has had too little experience in public speaking to formulate his thoughts into articulate meaningful discourse. No matter what, the question remains. WHAT?!
I think this may have gotten missed. This was actually meant as a proposed section XD. EIther that, or it was considered and denied, which is also cool.
This is a post by me in FTC regarding vague suggestions. I think it's appropriate here.
Well, there's a few things to discuss with the topic of vague suggestions.
Off the top: Just because something is no longer a rule doesn't mean you should do it. They trimmed it because there was no reasonable standard by which a suggestion could be considered vague (as you've read) not because they've allowed people the providence to spam up the forum. WhIlE iT iS nOt AgAiNsT tHe RuLeS tO uSe AlT-cApS, iT iS sTiLl oBnOxIoUs AnD sHoUlD bE aVoIdEd.
With that said:
Personal Stance: The rule was originally instated for a good reason. A vague thread leaves little to the discussion. There is often so much to cover and improve and so few places to start that it's a folly to attempt. Because of this, the only thing I can do is give up and just call it as it is, vague. The fact that these threads are no longer locked can be considered a good thing though, as it allows newer posters the grace to improve upon their suggestion and that can lead to proactive solutions.
For the Critics stance: Unchanged. Don't make vague suggestions if you don't want vague responses. If your suggestion is worth only 15 seconds of your time to write, it deserves 15 seconds of our time to respond. And because we're not linked to your mind, there's about 10 seconds of fruitless attempts to link to your psyche, 3 seconds of understanding the suggestion. and two seconds to - times up, pushing back!

I mean, unless it's "things to add in 1.9" (which most likely makes it a wishlist), then like I said, there's nothing wrong with it.
There is something wrong with it, from a "advertiser" point of view. When you're writing a suggestion, the idea is the product. This makes the title the advertisement. It's what makes people first look at something, or be interested in it. So, while this may not be bad for the viewers, it's a bad plan for the "producer", if you will. It gives no detail at all. It's possible this could make some people curious, but most people are just looking for good ideas. If the title isn't interesting, then they won't view it. Simple as that. So, in the interest of the suggester, this is a bad idea.

That seems like a rather opinionated response. I do not agree with you.
