It's not learning how to do things in that sense. It's more of telling you of what to do. If you were learning... Say, nuclear physics, I'm not sure the professor would be happy if you walked in with your own reactor and started fiddling around with things...
No, that's a terrible example, but whatever.
I am having diffuculty connecting any of that to what I said in my previous post.
This really is the first place that newly spawned members see though. It's at the top of the Forum page. If they make their very own thread from the start they will often times be driven away from the forums by closed minded people who completely reject an idea right away. However since this thread is about proper formulated responses, we might as well show some humanity. It will provide them with the catalyst necessary to to have potential on the forums. It also provides legitimate examples on subject, showing "good" and "bad" posts with "good" and "bad" reactions. As I stated before.
Now do you catch my drift? If not, it's fine. Everyone thinks differently anyway.
Maybe we need a new stickied thread forn new users to make their posts?
That won't change anything, because there's always gonna be that kid that thinks "My ideas are grand, I don't need to read any stickies or guides, because I'm confident enough that my idea is the greatest!"
This is why we get new users with the greyscale default Steve face as avatars that post threads saying "WE NEED HORSES!"
I catch your drift, but I don't think people are really that harsh to new users. Before I post, I check the user's post count if I have any criticism. If it's under, say, 100, I'll be nice. If it's over, like, 2,000 and they're making a stupid suggestion, you can bet all my flak cannons will be out.
Maybe we need a new stickied thread forn new users to make their posts?
That sounds like a good idea. That way they could get proper feedback, and nobody would consider it suggestion spamming. I guess that will make us all happy then.
We should make sure that the thread has the constructed reply instructions too.
I suppose that this brings the argument to a rest then.
Yes it does.
+1 rep to you for a multitude of reasons (including not raging at me like everyone else (everyone else raging at me hurts my feelings D:)).
People rage at me too sometimes too, and you didn't, so thank you.
It's a nice tutorial but only people who already make good suggestions would even bother reading this. Those thousands of noobs wanting their ty ideas to be implemented think that they already know how to suggest something.

If you want me to reply again, quote my post so I'll get a notification!
the crowd that will watch and judge the suggestion is not mojang, its not yourself, but the community as a whole, and most 1-posters only see themself as the important element and Mojang as the judge, while in both cases the community is are the one's that give value to the idea (with support, not always correctly, but still) and to judge it and spread the rumor.
Well said. Well said indeed. Sometimes we get the new users that have a few extra arrogance points, and think that the second their idea touches this forum, Mojang is already adding it. Hence when these new users say "Good luck on it Jeb, can't wait to see it in game!" Never knowing that their idea of adding Herobrine in the Nether will be forever mocked, shunned and forgotten.

The Unofficial Suggestion Guide - Everything you need to know to not make goofy mistakes in a suggestion! Honestly though, you should really go there.
That's not what a troll is. Troll threads are made by people who intentionally suggest something really stupid for the sole purpose of angering everyone. This guide cannot stop trolls, only bans can.

For opinions on new/future updates such as the ore, then you go to the "Recent Updates" section or "Future Updates" to discuss stuff such as that, the suggestions forum isn't for collecting likes/dislikes on a feature that is already planned. So you are posting that poll in the wrong section.
When I made the Opinion Poll I got such comments:
Who told you that suggestions aren't supposed to be in the Suggestions forum? Also, it is against the rules to make wishlists like this. You are supposed to make a separate thread for each suggestion. -

please don't wishlist , people told you as a suggestion not to wishlist . Read the rules and read the " read before posting a suggestion" topic. Closed -

Could Someone please clearly define and differentiate between a wishlist, an opinion poll and a suggestion. Thanks
It would be really nice to get a clear understanding of the differences as to not break the rules which are not that clear on such matters. Also if you have specific quotes of the rules please post them.
Yeah.. I made a herobrine thread to be honest I didn't even know it was a saturated idea. My bad and jokingly I replied to you with the 6 minute crap my bad. I'll be sure to put more time into each thread now and such after reading this thanks, take care man sorry if I offended you.

Alright, HiddenxBlades... If you just admit that you made a mistake, that shows you're acknowledging your faults and being mature about it, and not taking the arrogant route of "no my idea is good you are all wrong!" You don't need to slip in the "oh I was kinda joking" excuse because people, even on the internet, can know that you weren't joking and that can embarrass you. Badly.
Now, I saw your other thread about rugs. You need to use that search button, dude. Rugs have been suggested a thousand times, and threads like that will get locked.

Derp. Yeah, so you quote the whole thing and make your post gigantic. Yeah, it's long, but it gets the point across, that's not gonna change.
2. Also isn't this a friendly forum? You swore in the post (in the picture). "We get these ing Herobrine threads every day."
Regardless, good (huge) guide.
You're a big boy, I don't think profanity will make you faint.
Whoever told you that that's a wishlist, and that it belongs in suggestions, I would love to go into that thread and yell at, but I know that I'll get infracted if I do that.
Speaking of Wishlists, I have a small range of ideas that all revolve around one central point (namingly adding functionality through various NBT Tags) and while all technically separate ideas, all exist under that umbrella. Do I need to make individual threads for each of those suggestions? If not, keeping in mind the first rule of this board (one suggestion per thread), where would be the appropriate place to post it?
I would just make individual threads if the ideas weren't so fundamentally the same (who wants to make a individual thread for each mob and feature anyway? It would be easier to stuff it under an umbrella theme.)

I think you should be good with one thread, given that you make it very obvious that your list of smaller ideas all relate to each other, or relate to the same big picture.

I think that moderators locking posts for redundant ideas is terrible. Sure the person who posted it posted something that has been suggested a million times, but what if that person explained it differently that made it stand out from the crowd of redundant posts? I have one with obsidian that was really good until it got locked. Think about it.
