My Avatar is a Dalek, therefor your argument is... EXTERMINATED!!!
You know who can tell me something I already know? Me. All the time. I'm really good at telling me stuff I already know. I don't need help in that department. I don't know about others, but I can't imagine I'm alone here.
I found it. It's there as "it can be ignored." Its reasons don't, however, address items like the one in my signature, a purely aesthetic block that doesn't generally interfere with gameplay. If I say I don't want more kinds of wood items, people respond with "don't like don't use!" and despite my attempts to rationalize against that, it's hard to get people to realize why that isn't a valid argument.
It's probably hard to get them to rationalize because it technically is half valid at first glance.
Changing game mechanics and renderers is something that WILL interfere with gameplay, like Resource Packs and the "Optimizations" that Mojang did, whereas Dark Quartz and The ability to add paintings and records don't have that problem: because the first two force you to use them, but not the second two. You have the option to NOT use the Dark Quartz, but in the case of those "Optimizations", you have no choice; so many people say to themselves "Hey, you can use this or not, so all you numskulls shut up, 'cause you have a choice to not use it anyway! Mojang messed up Minecraft with 1.8, so, what is the issue of adding five or six blocks?! (Or, better yet, a Trash can?)"

Exactly.
I know it may seem half-valid, but I think it's unacceptable to use regardless of the topic or suggestion. It is a standard silencing tactic that I wish to be rid of. It's similar to "it can be optional," in a way, but more subtle in execution.
I guess my response would be that if it's bad, it doesn't matter whether it's optional or not. If it sucks, I'm obviously not going to use it, but I also don't think it should be there to begin with. Kind of how I feel about the current effort vs. return concerning fireworks.
"I'm sure Mojang could figure out a way to implement this properly!"
This isn't the same as "I'm sure Mojang would/could do it" in the excuses section. I'm talking about people who are overly optimistic and use the above excuse as a hide-behind when others destroy your suggestion. "Okay yes, I finally admit it after being told by 20 others posters, my idea of sheep flying sometimes with their own wool is weird, but Mojang is awesome so I'm sure they'd implement this in a way where it would fit best!! Smile smile grin grin grin!"
Please, before you start smiling out of nowhere, understand that Mojang being good at what they do has no correlation with an absolutely goofy unfitting suggestion. Also, do not make this excuse so you save yourself making effort to make your idea more fitting.

Actually, for the new section you should add subsection for Player-like mobs and High Tech Gear/Weapons/Mobs/Blocks/etc...

And another idea, asking for a retexture of a texture we all think is iconic... (Creepers, Diamonds, Steve, etc..)
Its basically the Coke company thing all over again! (Incase you don't know, Coke had a buttload less sales because they changed the design of the coke cans.)

I see those threads every other week, all the time asking for shaders or some features of shaders. Every.thread.is.the.exact.same. OP gets on and asks for shaders in vanilla. The critics come in and point out that it would laggy. The OP will either say "Oh, come on guys, get a new computer! Gosh!" or the infamous "It can be optional!" And from there the thread spirals on and on until a mod locks it or it eventually dies.

Let me know if my posts are helpful or if you like them. That's what I'm here for.
I am currently lurking more than I am posting. I haven't gone anywhere.
"The problem isn't my suggestion, the problem is your computer"
Theriasis should add that to "excuses you shouldn't use" if she hasn't already.
Or the OP will say "Well, I'm sure Mojang will make it not lag!" is another one I forgot.
Complete agreement. Saying just to get up and make a massive purchase just because their suggestion would cause lag is one of the most entitled, selfish things you can possibly say. People don't have aged box computers that run Minecraft for 5fps because they chose them.

Well, I see a lot of critics say that, not just suggesters. It's a huge problem.

If you're referring to the lagument, then that's a bit of heartburn; but its quite problematic as well.
The problem is, for as shallow and baseless of a criticism as it is; it satisfies all requirements of rules defined by the moderators and admins; it is a criticism that could also promote discussion.
I hate it because it's skeleton key copypasta. If you don't like a suggestion, "it'd cause lag" can be fit well in just about every setting you'd imagine. This makes it unimaginably easy to run to; and unimaginably unimaginative.
If you want people to stop using the lagument, then you have to demand proof or numbers that it'd indeed cause lag. This is where the lagument usually always fails; because all it takes is me (an idiot, by trade) to dismantle their hogwash argument with a retort of my own; and their entire criticism falls apart.
Either that, or remind them that eating pepperoni pizza on a summer day causes Minecraft to lag.
Nah, I think around 2013 is when people, everyone, would say "Get a better computer.".

The engineer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
Dedicated artists and designers, by contrast, are generally just inept.
It's always objectively better to build an awesome playing/looking game that can run efficiently on minimalistic systems...rather than to create the mostly mediocre games that exist today for only the most powerful systems.
A good example of this concept is EVE Online. The ships are horrid. Pretty in some cases, but horrid. A properly designed ship would tear them to shreds, no matter the technology difference. Efficient and adept use of resources and capabilities always trumps brute force.

Exactly.
