Another thing you shouldn't do is act like everybody knows you. I have seen a lot of newbies do this and it generally isn't received well.
For example: Hey guys, Smiliez7a here with another idea. They should add "thingy". This would work really well with my previous suggestion, that I'm sure all of you have read.
Thanks, adding.
Edit: Added an entire section for threads that are absolutely not allowed here.
I think this should be added to "bad presentations":
Referencing Youtubers
"I was watching <youtuber here> and he was talking about how sometimes he wished there were guns in minecraft so let's add guns to minecraft!"
No. Just no. First of all, that's terrible reasoning. But even if your suggestion is a really good idea, you won't get more supporters if you just link in a video where some youtuber talks about an idea the same as yours.
"Well my idea is liek totally gonna suck but ok w/e here's goes. i suggest creepers with capes. ya i kno it sucks but auuughh whatever ok bye..."
This one kind of rocks on my nerves. If you don't expect your own idea to work, then don't waste your own (and everyone else's) time posting it. Make it so you personally enjoy it and think it'll fit THEN post it. Otherwise, just press back and continue lurking.
Just something that might make the guide a little more organised, but I think that you should split the presentations to avoid and add a new section called "Attitudes That You Should Avoid".
This is because some of the thing in the presentation section aren't really presentations, but more attitudes as to how the poster acts and thinks about his suggestion. This also includes some of the things in the excuses section, even though it is not as long. Examples include;
Sometimes, even a bunch of supports doesn't mean your suggestion is good.
Don't ignore needed fixes to your thread when they're pointed out
Don't ignore criticism while only responding to supporters.
Minecraft wasn't made for just you.
"I'm sure Mojang could/would do it!"
"A lot of people suggested this so Mojang should give it to us!"
There are a few more. Nothing really major, just a way of organising the thread a little better since the presentations section is quite long.
I see some suggestions where the poster will say things like, "its not done yet im going to add more detals lol i know it has problems i just wanted to put it up lol !" But what's the point of posting your suggestion if it's not even complete? You'd be able to get more accurate feedback from the get-go if you were patient enough to post a 'complete' suggestion. There's no rush in getting your beta-stage idea up on the forums. Take your time before posting!

I'm pretty sure there is already a section for that.
Also, just another thing to add to the "Threads You Are Not Allowed to Make", what about threads that suggest mods to be in vanilla Minecraft?
Making a new thread is always worse than necroing. Especially if the thread you're necroing is better written, more poignant, and more current than the new one that is meant to "replace" it.
Just a note: I think you should put the siblings excuse with the "Backpedalling" excuse, rather than adding it as another item to the list. It would make more sense anyway.

This post covers in excellent detail exactly what not to do, maybe some pointers on what to do? I feel this post is teeming with negativity and needs some motivation to post suggestions instead of discouragement. I know there have been a lot of ideas in my head but I now know which ones won't work. I think some what to do posts could help me reinforce the ideas still in my head. Thank you!
The truth hurts. Adding pointers on what to do would be redundant as it's nothing but reforming the message around the opposite. Besides, its far better to know what to avoid than to know what's good as you can generalize a list of good using what's not found in the "do not do"; as abridged as it may be.
Thanks, adding.

They usually don't. This thread can't cure laziness.

I've seen this happen several times. Seriously.

Added both. Also added "rant threads" to the threads you should never make section.

Remind me why the Minecraft community cannot comprehend anything more complicated than clicking a button.
Nope. Not always.
Edit: 5000th post. Great.

Yes and no. Maybe it'd work better as a poor excuse. "come on ppl im not done making it yet cam down!!"

"Don't worry, that stupid post I made there was someone else in my house doing that. Sooo not me you guys."
Which is funny as that "someone else in the house" happens to type in the exact same manner as the person making the excuse.
Eh, sure. Might as well add this. The "excuses" section could use a bit more stuff.
