A poster with 1000+ posts has acquired a reputation, people can recognize their point of view, and generally a suspect/disputable claim has more veracity coming from a poster with more posts than a tree-puncher.
A well-established forum member is also much more forgiven for outbursts away from their established norms where a new player is not given the same grace; not because they don't know what they're talking about; but because you haven't had the time to make friends; and the last thing you need when starting in a new community is enemies.
I feel like absolutely NO ONE who is new to the forums is actually reading this, if you don't know or believe me, go look at the ideas, it's like some have no brain at all, with ideas like " circle block ( sighted yesterday)" "computers" and wishlists, it's sad to see half of the people here only make their accounts for THIS sub forum maybe the admins need to start giving infractionas more often and being more harsh.
Well, I mean, they could... To be truthful, I generally feel like a jerk whenever I report someone; even if they are breaking the rules. How much more so when the power of infractions and banning is allowed to the situation?
Well I just came across an interesting conundrum. This particular branch of the forums asks that suggestions be pretty much a finished/refined idea. I tried starting a discussion thread in the other forum to come to a consensus on what would work best, and it was moved here! How can I get ideas from the community if it get's moved here, and this isn't the forum to do that?
Send a private message asking well known (me) or well liked (not me) critics to improve or brush up on a suggestion before it's posted to the general audience.
The more reputable members (me) have been here a while and tend to be able to give advance advice on what a suggestion would need, what it would lack, and the general ebb and flow of the community at large.
Keep in mind that even the most well written suggestion will have it's lack of support. I've said it before, this is polarization, and successful polarization is a really good thing. You want those that hate it to have a reason to hate it; and those that like it to really like it. True support from one person means much more than mehs from 10~20 people.
Excellent.. thanks. It seems to me there should be a better process for this though, as it puts an undue burden on other posters, especially to drop something that maybe unsolicited on them.
No one will ever expect you to make a perfect suggestion. They will, however, expect that you try as hard as you can to portray your suggestion in a positive light.
You spent time and energy into each letter you key, each delete you press, each semicolon, etc. all add to the message you want to send. All that I would personally ever ask of a poster is that you be excellent in all ways. That is to say, you don't just poop out an idea.
The reason why "good critics" -- as I'm occasionally called -- are so desirable is because they're capable of making a good suggestion and turning it great. This is where the creative collaborative process really takes root. A willingness to communicate and discuss an idea and refine it to a glossy sheen.
Well yoshi, you put that into great words, you should learn to write stories anyway, yes, most of us has had an infraction at least once when they were new to the forums. I think that those who think an over suggested idea is bad, you are not a logical critic, because let's say there's an idea, it may be over suggested, but a good suggested could easily turn it into something well thought out and better than the others, also, let's say, like for example ( true story ) my first post was the temperature bar, it got a ton of hate from a bunch of never stop losers who absolutely would not leave, even after the thread was forgotten in late 2013, ( made in 2012) but someone, who may or may not have been yoshi ( forgot) said that is over suggested, but the ideas previous makers could support each new one continuously in order to raise support and cause reconsideration of the idea, it actually helped a lot, EDIT : wow that may be the longest comment I ever posted..
So here is a question, say you do a search on a subject, and it would seem there is already a suggestion about it, yet your suggestion isn't the same. Example: mithril armor. Say someone else had the idea, but your implementation would be different.
Should you just post in that original post, or start a new topic? If you post in the original topic, won't people just discuss the original post, and not your new idea/ implementation?
If your core idea is "mithril armor" and someone else posts that with the same core idea but even with different mechanics, I think it'd be best to just post in the original thread instead of making a new one.
Though if you're really stumped. Your best bet to is just ask a mod that's often active.

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.
ummm guys just wanted to ask how do you create a topic??
OK.
Here's a few golden rules to go by; learn these and you'll do fine.
1) You are the suggester. Don't ask for ways to improve suggestions or ideas for suggestions. Those should all come from you. The critics (everyone that isn't you) will help to improve, support, or decline your suggestion; but they won't make the suggestion for you.
2) If it deserves your time, it deserves your attention. If it takes you 5 minutes to write a suggestion, think about how much better it would be with another 5, 10 minutes?
3) Your presentation is far more important than the suggestion itself. This one may sound kind of against the grain, but it's true. If the most tender and succulent filet mignon is served on a garish cracked dish from a cheap diner with a health score of 87; no one will want to eat the steak. They'd rather have the beautifully plated and presented chuck steak from the fine restaurant with the beautiful cutlery and scenery. This means that it doesn't matter how good the content of the suggestion is if it's suggested improperly. There is no such thing as a product selling itself; if there were, there'd be no need for salesmen.

Both above and below the thread list there's a green button that says 'start new topic'. Click that button and then type in the space provided (or listen to Yoshi if I misinterpreted your post).

I couldn't access my old account for some reason (23232323), this is my new one.
Maybe an idea for this thread itself: This thread is a singularly negative thread. To me, (and I may be missing something here), It seems that there should at least be some examples in there of really well crafted OP's and thread responses rather than a rather rambling list of "No do this, No do this, No do that..." Etc. You get my point.
And yes, I did read the entire thing. Which I *facepalm* never actually did when I first joined......
That would give the wrong idea of a universal right way of doing something, which is flat untrue. The only thing that's expected of language is the conveyance of thought through a textual medium. The method is inconsequential as long as its capable of understanding.
What this thread focuses on are the myriad ways an idea could be ambiguous or misinterpreted which no one would desire.
You need to look at the source of all these suggestions. Most (not all) "me wantz rawnd blawkz" suggestions are poorly thought out and don't even make sense; it says something about the suggester. Given the growing number of Internet-enabled households today, as well as the very young age of some of these posters, I wouldn't be surprised if the circle block person happened to be 9.
But that's besides the point. It's meant to support this one. Since so many crappy posters tend to be too young / immature to think through their posts well, it's quite unlikely they would even bother to stop and think why they signed up other than to make that silly suggestion.
Add something about making mods easier to Minecraft. This is because the Plugin API is being added and suggesting making mods easier is pointless because of this.
I probably should have red this before I made a post. I hope I didn't mess up to badly....

Well, sorry but... no. I can admit I was overbearing in that thread, but a lot of what the OP was saying was pretty opinionated.
