I think they should add a new mob, it is like a dog, exept it is actually useful and helps you along your exciting Minecraft adventure! It should be hard to make. And another suggestion is after you defeat the Ender Dragon, you dont just respawn after the credits, you respawn in a room with TONS of diamonds, emeralds, food, and all the loot you could imagine! And there should be a Story Mode where there's a story created by Mojang. Just like The Legend Of Zelda, and Mario, and stuff! It would be really cool!

Excuses You Shouldn't Use (Continued)
Because they activate self-embarrassment mode.
"I made this suggestion for the sake of discussion!"
Auuuuuuuggggghhhhhhhhhh!!! I hate this!
Noooooo, you think? I mean, you did post in the suggestions forum which is umbrella'd by a discussion section. So, the discussion comes by default? That's like someone asking you "Why do you want the soup over the new sandwich?" and you answer with "Because it'll go in my stomach."
The most common use for this excuse is masked idea farming. "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so uhhhh I'm just gonna give absolute bare bones of my idea so uhhhhhhhhhhh the idea will grow once we discuss it more!!!!" No, how about you "uhhhhhhhhhhh" finish the whole suggestion up front? /goodadvice
If I see someone using that excuse again, I will bite their teeth off.
"But it's fun!"
Fun for who? Everyone or just you?
This is when a user has a case of "I wasn't thinking of the end result." syndrome, which can be shortened to IWTOTER. Which can only be cured by using your brain in a better way. What are you expecting when you use this excuse? "Well, this guy thinks it's fun so now I HAVE to support!" Yeah, good job human race. This is why the other races out there hate us.
Let's break out of opinion world and start using some objective reasons. Your brain registering something as fun won't magically change the minds of others around you. Remember this forever. Okay thanks for your time.
Using Adventure Mode as a Crutch
Before anyone jumps in and attacks me, I know. Some adventure mode related ideas are absolutely awesome, and if done right, can be the greatest ideas on the forum. In fact, a couple of those are in the suggestion hall of fame right now.
If your idea is so painfully subjective and situational beyond belief, making rethink bringing adventure mode into this. "Hey Theriasis, give an example!" Woah who said that?? Well, if that's what the voice wants.
"There should be a gamerule command of /pageant, where it makes dogs wear crazy outfits. You know, for people who want to make dog pageant maps! This idea is very large scale and universal! Just leave my supports in the box I'll come back later!"
Yeah, because dog pageant maps are just being made left and right. Mojang's totally gonna program that in for the off chance someone wants to make that kind of map. No, please make adventure mode ideas cover the scope of many type of maps. Good, glad we cleared that up.
Using Pure Negatives as Positives
Also known as "Failing and publicly assuring the failure as an attempt to succeed."
When I say "pure negative", I'm not talking about costs or cons that help balance out the suggestion, I'm talking about idea-ruining things that need to be removed.
If your dumb idea of Ender Ocelots teleporting fish to you is awful, don't quasi-defend it with "Yeah, it's supposed to be overpowered, that's the point." You changed nothing by doing that, and made yourself look like an absolute dolt with no brainpower to understand balance.
"This is my first suggestion!"
yeah okay cool. So mentioning this will... do what now?
"Be gentle this is my first idea." doesn't reprogram us into being nicer, and even if it does, it doesn't make a bad suggestion less bad. This is usually a cheap way to avoid heavy criticism. You had plenty of opportunity to check the sticky threads, but you went all in and hoped for the best.
This also showcases you have some doubts over your own idea, which in turn shows you might not have put much thought into it. Micromessaging.
"But it's funny!"
For who? You? 8-year olds? Adults? Teens?
I once saw a suggestion about players kneeing each other in the crotch, that is in my top 5 of worst suggestions ever. There should probably never be an idea that would exist for the sake of comedy and nothing more.
Not only are suggestions like that really stupid and immature, but it wouldn't be funny forever. It would be the same joke being told over and over without hope of rest. If you're about to submit some "LOL BCUZ FUNNY" ideas, break your own fingers so you don't.
"Your post was rude was so I skipped it!!!"
Also known as "you didn't post how I wanted so I tuned you out!" A critic's job is to - believe it or not - criticize a suggestion. Isn't that the entire point of a suggestion? For others to express their likes and dislikes with a suggestion? A critic's job is not to make you feel horrible (that's this guide's job) but not to make you feel good either.
Oh wait, you thought a suggestion was only about being overly nice and telling the OP only what they want to read? If only the world worked that way, eh? You skipped a rude post eh? Well, apparently you read the first 5 words of that post otherwise you wouldn't have known the post was "rude".
If someone is being unfair and attacking you, just report them and move forward, don't read someone's post anyway and then quote them just to go "ur post was meen so i didn't read it at all >=(" Learn how to take the negative's and even read what you don't want.
Presentations You Need To Avoid (Continued)
I ran out of ideas for subtitles.
"This is what Mojang's gonna do!"
That's right kids, when Mojang gives us a snapshot with shields, that automatically means they're gonna add spears, battleaxes, magic spells, maces, warhammers, elves, knights, castles and craftable slacks.
No, unless you can quote Mojang directly or it exists in a version of the game, don't play the "this what gon' happen" card. That comes off as arrogant, much like this angry satirical guide. Don't assume we'll get sandwiches because one mob drops a new food. Don't assume we're gonna get a new insect dimension because one extra spider mob was added.
This type of presentation is also used when someone gets a lot of supports, and assumes the idea is so famous that every game developer has seen it. Don't assume this, as your brain will be more correct if you don't.
Playing Off People's Emotions
Please try to make your suggestion make everyone happy, and not just people who share a specific mindset. That actually comes off as weird manipulation.
"Do you the older Minecraft when zombies dropped feathers! Well I'm here to make you feel better, as long as my idea doesn't go interru-" Wait let me stop you there. What about the rest of us that didn't care for the zombie-feathers thing? Will we like the suggestion?
Yeah, you know you're smart when your idea only encompasses people with a specific line of thought. Way to think of the rest of the world, genius.
Stupid Comparisons
What sickens me the most about this, is that when people make these dumb comparisons, I can just see them sitting at their computers with the most confident look on their faces as they type that. As if to say "Hohohoo, I'm about to make a wicked, solid point."
No, you aren't making a solid point. You spoke confidently when you had no idea what you were even saying. If you suggested "slave villagers", then there's no reason to talk about slavery in the real world because it doesn't alter the opinion of anyone reading your idea.
This also plays into the "But it's realistic" excuse. You might as well just flat out say - verbatim, "This is my idea. It has existed in the real world." Okay cool. But I still hate your idea of dyeing mushrooms. Herp.
** Rebelling **
This is it. Out every single possible entry in any list I made in this, this the WORST thing anyone can do.
You know what I mean, after seeing 2 no-supports, they go "Bahahahahaaa, I hate this forum. Everyone user on here is duuuuuuUUUUMBBB! I'm going to spam this forum and make so many other accounts and just troll and troll and troll!!!! Sweet revenge!!!"
This is an absolute missing link of bad users. You have permanently burned bridges and have no chance on these forums ever again. Those extra troll threads? They'll get locked. Made other accounts? You'll get IP banned. It is a battle you can't win, so don't even attempt it. Good game.
All those chances you could have taken to get better, and all of those chances to make better threads in the future? Yup, all gone forever. RIP.
Pre-Guidelines
Nooooohooohooooo. There's already this guide and a 'For The Critics' guide. You don't need to make your own little pocket guide on your own thread, as it will not change someone's posting habits.
"Here's my idea! Don't post this and only post that!" No, people will post how they want. A personal thread guide will not alter how people think. Please leave that the sticky guides. Okay thanks in advance.
Making Threads You Never Return To
So you made a post on a public forum but don't care for any kind reception, so you just disappear forever? Get a new brain.
What's funny is I only see this on the stupid suggestion, and never the long well-detailed ones. For example "We need some more cat types, K BYE!!!!!" You see mods, this is what happens when you remove rules about vague threads.
Oh yeah, and for you critics out there... If you know for sure the OP is doing the "poop out a thread and sprint away forever" thing, STOP POSTING IN THE THREAD! Because you're bumping a diarrhea thread that will never, ever be fixed.
"New! New! New!"
One of the most built-in fallacies in the human brain is "It's new, so it's good!" No, that is not the definition of the word "new". Just because something is soon to be introduced or has existed for a very short amount of time does not make it a positive thing.
Ever buy a new game and it sucked? Ever buy a flavor of chips and they tasted like dirt mixed with cat fart? Yeah, I think you see where I'm going with this.
You can not use the fact that something is new in a suggestion as the only driving force. You want to introduce a new mob with a new drop which creates a new potion? That's fine. But if you have to tack a new dimension, a new biome, three new blocks and a new torch just to compliment the one mob. You overdid it, and chances are, you dried out your creativity well way too fast, and you over-saturated your idea.
Take a look at my guide, sometimes my examples are funny and sometimes they're just mediocre and rushed. If I take my time and don't rush "just to get it done omgggg" then my examples go farther.
tl,dr: "new" and "good" don't mean the same thing lol.
Overexaggerated Thread Title/Ideas
"The game feels so lonely, don't worry, I (out of all other suggesters) happen to the best and only solution to this problem! We add two more villagers: the accountant and the lawyer! There, those two mobs will cancel out the entire loneliness problem! My brain is so good with thoughts!"
No it isn't. Understand what you're explaining. If you want to "completely redo oceans" that's fine, but you can't redo them by adding another color squid. You can't "revamp combat" by throwing shovels where it does no damage.
Leaving Important Details "Up For Debate"
Yes, please make it more difficult for us to decide whether we support or not because you won't give us a concrete detail that we need. Especially if it's a piece of detail that decides how balanced your idea is.
If you suggest a new bubble gum mob that does X, Y and Herp. How are we gonna know how balanced the mob's Double Bubble attack is if you don't give us a definite number? If you "leave it up for discussion", you're just plastering a huge question mark on one of the most important parts of your idea.
Also note that most of us won't return to a thread just to check if you finished a suggestion like you should have done at square one. Dear everyone, stop doing this.
"You're all right, the idea is bad." But you keep dwelling...
Let me say, if you truly realize your idea is bad and for the proper reasons, you're pretty awesome. It shows you have humility, and you're not one of the many users who throw tantrums to defend a stupid idea.
However. Do not milk this to the very end. If you established your own idea is bad, do not constantly make speeches or senselessly bump your thread after this. Either stop posting in your thread or just asked for it to be locked, because if - as you admitted - the idea is bad, why should the thread keep living?
Also, do not guilt trip the critics by doing the "compassion is the greatest revenge" tactic. A critic's job is to state the negatives if they exist, unless they were being unreasonably mean, do not deserve to feel bad for just posting. After all, that's what a forum is for, right?
This also exists in the form of "guys, plz ignore this thread" and "guys pls let my thraed die ok thx in advance" when you're pretty much just bumping the thread while no one else is posting much.

The Unofficial Suggestion Guide - Everything you need to know to not make goofy mistakes in a suggestion! Honestly though, you should really go there.
Hi, I only signed up to this website for the sole purpose of putting in suggestions. Well here's my suggestion: zombies shouldn't knock people back when they're attacking people or other mobs, I think they should just, grab them until hurt. When hurt they should let go as soon as that happens, weither it's a skeleton, creeper, another player, anything.
I know this much is generally not appreciated, but I have quite a few ideas and I needed a place to post them where I could get some feedback.
So I have a volley of ideas that may or may not be considered good. Some of the ideas are original and others are based of other ideas, but I thank all of you for contributing to the game, and I apologize if it appears that I may have stolen an idea. I assure you however that no harm is or ever was intended. Thank you. I also ask that if you comment or reply, criticism or compliment, that you avoid the usage of curse words. I would not consider these a violation of the suggestion rule due to the part where these are ideas, and I cast that forward in advance.
Biome Idea:
Bogs - Rare swamp-like biomes. - Releases combustible gasses and fires appear often. - Spawn area of the Creeper Hive boss mob.
Item Ideas:
Javelin/Spear - Two sticks and one flint crafting recipe. - Can be used for spear fishing, traps, and/or short range weapons. - Stackable
Explosive Arrows - Gunpowder, sand, arrows. - Quiver slot for choice over types. - May just work better as a mod.
Apple Pie - Apples, wheat, eggs. - Yum!
Wing of Bat - Drop from bats. - Can be used for Potion of Flight. - Corrupt version deals random falling damage.
Brick walls - Alternative to cobblestone walls. - With stone gate (equivalent to fence gate.)
Iron Blocks - Iron slabs. - Iron stairs. - Iron rails (equivalent to fences.) - Iron railgate (equivalent to fence gate.)
Placeable slime balls - Used for traps.
Seaweed - Underwater grass/bush type.
Mob Ideas:
Birds - Similar to bats. - Drop feathers. - Cats will randomly chace/attack them.
Rabbits - Neutral Mob. - Dig through carrots. - Drop rabbit feet. - Jumping potion?
Creeper Hive/Mother Creeper - Mossy-like structure. - Does not move. - Spawns (Hatches) Creepers. - May shoot explosive projectiles. - Drops gunpowder/creeper eggs. - Secondary Overworld boss mob next to Red Dragons. - Spawns in Bogs.
Pigmen - NPC raiders/brigands who fight in groups. - Spawn in tree-huts in jungles. - Hostile towards the player, and other hostile mobs. - Can access chests and will steal gold items. - Can use doors. - Fight with wood/gold swords, fire arrows/bows, and flint and steel. - Occasionally use leather/gold armor. - Will burn forests, NPC villages, and player-built structures. - Sometimes ride pigs, don’t need carrots on stick. - Tree huts contain chests. Chests may contain: Gold ingot, gold nuggets, armor, saddles, flint and steel, carrots, swords, bows.
Thank you, I appreciate feedback positive or negative. If you have ideas too I’d love to head them.
My suggestion is to have a feature that allows you to break down crafted objects.
So many times have I gone to craft a large amount of something, i.e. ladders, and then after preparing all the materials neccessary, I've absent mindeldly used up all available materials to make something different, i.e fenceposts! I do this all the time with this specific example and it just means more time spent constantly going about collecting wood or other materials.
So yeah, a redo feature would be pretty handy IMO, I'm suprised it hasn't already been done.
I like that. It would be very handy. But not with all objects. Some things wouldn't really make sense. For example: de-crafting a cake.
It's good though.
People posting fewer ideas would be a good thing quality over quantity.
There is one thing I would add to this, a section about overly complex suggestions. Every feature should be implemented on the simplest way possible without ruining the feature, utilising existing blocks, items and mechanics as much as possible.
Unless they have high quality in high quantity right?
Why are people complaining about "no suggestions?" This thread was filed under the suggestion section. Therefore this thread is clearly for suggestions.

No, this thread is for learning about how to make a suggestion thread, and nothing else. Suggestions belong on their own thread, where they can be given proper detail and get proper attention within the thread. Spamming them here just clutters the thread an annoys people, not to mention the fact that you probably wont get a reply here.

How are you supposed to learn how to make a suggestions if you can't practice here. From what I read this page is for drill and practice. This thread is for learning to give proper detail, and for learning to give proper attention. Someone practices posting something correctly. Then someone else practices responding correctly. The title of the thread is even "Please Read This Before Making a Suggestion", which implies that suggestions are in fact designated for this thread. If people are annoyed or consider suggestions spamming here, maybe they should read the text at the beginning of the thread.
the gudie was cool but now i,m worried if i,m a good poster a poster or a bad poster?
If you use the search button, take the time to balance your idea, make sure it fits Minecraft and show the public what forms of originality and fun your idea has, you should be alright. From what I see, the bad posters here are the people who post without using the search button, put no balance or thought in their ideas, then end it all with "this would be awesome! durrr please support!"

You learn how to make suggestions by making suggestions. There's no logical reason to post them here, there's no penalty for making a bad suggestion in it's own thread. Most of the smart users will tell you to just make your own thread and the only one's who'll comment on your ideas in this thread are the ones who couldn't see balance or logic if it stared them in the face. If you really need guidance, ask for help on presentation, layout or game design, spamming a bad suggestion here isn't going to make it any better.
By the way, the OP is against suggestion spamming in this thread.

-Well, apparently.
There's no logical reason to post them here, there's no penalty for making a bad suggestion in it's own thread.
-Yes actually there is a reason. So that people can practice giving the formulated responses. Thats a good thing.
-A "Bad Suggestion" only really exists in state of opinion. So if people post here then they are less likely to receive crap from a troller. Here they can receive well written, polite, and the formulated responses they need to become experienced enough to avoid posting what a typical person would call a "bad suggestion" by providing the necessary content.
Most of the smart users will tell you to just make your own thread and the only one's who'll comment on your ideas in this thread are the ones who couldn't see balance or logic if it stared them in the face.
-That was very mean.
By the way, the OP is against suggestion spamming in this thread.
-I read through this thread and I found no indication that the OP was against drill and practice for the very topic the thread was started about. There are not only too few suggestions to be considered serious spamming here, but it gives people the chance to get feedback on their formulated responces just in the place where it is being reviewed for constructive criticism.
I wouldn't actually be surprised that the OP would be glad that posters where putting the techniques to use on their thread not only because it would create more experienced thread users, but because it would also provide legitimate examples for future viewers.
NO
You will post your suggestions in your own threads to learn - and when I say will, I mean it
Also, your post up the top was a wishlist.
Also, that last paragraph annoys me because of what I am... A sad sack
It doesn't sound like you read or even put a single thought into what I said.
Yes, and I don't know how to delete it. All I have been getting in response for it is crap anyway, ironically in a thread where one of the key features is learning how to be polite in formulating responses.
i made a farm that auto harvest wheat and other plants and i was thinking maybe a dispenser right beside tilled soil could plant seeds or carrots but i doesnt so i though notch should try to make it that when a dispenser is faceing tilled soil and when you dispence seed, carrots or potatos it would plant them and bonemeal to grow the crops so you could make a fully automated farm where all you do is push a button and it would plant grow and harvest it all
I thought you were making a personal dig at some quote of mine.

I like that. It would be very handy. But not with all objects. Some things wouldn't really make sense. For example: de-crafting a cake.
It's good though.

You learn how to make suggestions by making suggestions.

It doesn't sound like you read or even put a single thought into what I said.
Yes, and I don't know how to delete it. All I have been getting in response for it is crap anyway, ironically in a thread where one of the key features is learning how to be polite in formulating responses.
In what way?
