I am a huge follower of Minecraft, and I see some things that really **** people off when they have to build gigantic Redstone devices that do very simple tasks, like a clock; they require large, hard-to-learn combinations of wire, torches, and repeaters that boggle the first time player's head, and people mostly live underground in Minecraft, but have no idea what time it is unless they have a clock. Okay, that's fine, but what if they've no gold? And what if they could "see" the Sun through Redstone? And what if we had some Redstone-conducting block that we could use to wire between floors?
So, in my opinion, Notch should add:
1. A Redstone Clock, or in simple terms, a controllable device that activates a pulse in a specified time period, and can be set with anything- Invent a new tool, or anything! And it should also be stoppable, such as when it recieves a Redstone pulse on one side, it stops turning and points in that direction automatically. In other words, when input is FALSE, output is TRUE at set, regular intervals (all other times FALSE), and when input is TRUE, its output is always FALSE. Can be set by tick, second, minute, and hour (real time, a tick is 1/20 of a second).
2. A block that sends power only when recieving light at level 7 or greater, or sunlight at all levels above eleven. Basically, the input is light. You can set it for sun mode or omnisource mode by right-clicking. When set to sun mode, the little icon on the device will change from a torch to a little sun icon, and when set to Omnisource Mode, the opposite happens- The sun becomes a torch. And it sends Redstone as strong as a Redstone Torch on all sides when the light level on its top face is at the specified levels. This can be used to create an intricate system of nighttime warning-Thus allowing players in a cave to know when to take cover.
3. A Redstone Block that looks like any other ore block, just red (no ****, sherlock!) and indefinitely conducts Redstone power and can be placed one on top of the other, used for wiring sun detectors and such to vastly underground chambers. It also greatly simplifies Redstone and makes it more easy to learn and funner to play.
4. Gravitational pistons. This basically means an upgraded piston that works like a piston for normal blocks that are unaffected by gravity, but for primed TNT and other mobs (I'll explain in another thread) and gravity-affected blocks like sand and gravel, it will do something special- It will throw them in a good arc, thus making Redstone cannons easy to make, and easy to make a mob-throwing ledge another form of security. It will also prime TNT.
Anyway, those are my bones to pick with Notch, and I'll see you in another thread!

To creep or not to creep... That is the question... And I will decide with an MP44 in my hands...
I am a huge follower of Minecraft, and I see some things that really **** people off when they have to build gigantic Redstone devices that do very simple tasks, like a clock; they require large, hard-to-learn combinations of wire, torches, and repeaters that boggle the first time player's head Nope, they require a 3x3 space, two repeaters set to delay about 2-3 ticks, and redstone leading to them in a loop. is a repeater, is redstone:
This is a basic clock. If this boggles anyone's mind, they should study things a wee-bit more before playing any game involving logic gates (Minecraft redstone, Powder Toy electricity, WireWorld, ect)
and people mostly live underground in Minecraft, Not really any more. Underground gets boring after a few times, so people start building outside buildings, even having houses on cliffs and jungle trees. Personally I have a habit of trying to construct a good-looking wood house on a survival server on the first night.
but have no idea what time it is unless they have a clock. Okay, that's fine, but what if they've no gold? Windows are magical. Not as magical as friendship, but magical indeed. A window is a one-block hole in the side of your base, nothing special until you start really getting into the game. Once then, windows become more elaborate, even taking up entire walls. I have never needed a clock, and probably never will, on one world, windows save me that trouble.
And what if they could "see" the Sun through Redstone? And what if we had some Redstone-conducting block that we could use to wire between floors? If they have redstone, why do they not have gold?
So, in my opinion, NotchJeb should add:

Can be set by tick, second, minute, and hour (real time, a tick is 1/20 of a second). I could find at least 3 uses for this.
2. A block that sends power only when recieving light at level 7 or greater, or sunlight at all levels above eleven. Basically, the input is light. You can set it for sun mode or omnisource mode by right-clicking. This can be used to create an intricate system of nighttime warning-Thus allowing players in a cave to know when to take cover. With the clock, this would be pointless. Vice versa as well. And if you've tried the light sensor on Redpower, you'd know it might not work that well. Not much support.

A Redstone Block that looks like any other ore block, just red (no ****, sherlock!) and indefinitely conducts Redstone power and can be placed one on top of the other, used for wiring sun detectors and such to vastly underground chambers. It will also prime TNT. I think that pistons should just do what they did in the mod, launch gravel, sand, and primed TNT into the air.
Also, pistons aren't that related to redstone.
Anyway, those are my bones to pick with NotchJeb, and I'll see you in another thread! Notch no longer works on Minecraft, and hasn't for a while now.
Hey, wait. Do you realize the redstone block will be able to send power vertically, which would save a lot of time for creative users? And the light sensor would be extremely useful, mainly because it will make you look cool when your lights automatically turn on at night and during thunderstorms. And your "clock" is not a clock, it is only a current that can make things go on and off repetitively. What a redstone circuit clock is, is a real thing that tells real time with a display. Meaning that it will go -

00:00:02
00:00:03
On and on. AND I don't see any feathers in the picture. So stop making fun of people just for the sake of it. I don't care if he really deserves it, but this idea is NOT troll-worthy.

I haven't even bought MineCraft, I don't have the money...
My version of a new redstone system would be this:
Redstone when place somewhere would be invisible, and only could be seen with a special device crafted probably with redstone and iron. You could also place blocks over it, so that would be useful.

While redstone does need an upgrade, I don't like all of your ideas. I would more like a vertical redstone with dust, or another similar implement, because your idea is very, very expensive in terms of redstone cost.

Second of all, download Redpower.
Third of all, Redpower doesn't belong in Vanilla.

i really like that idea.. that would be cool..
Yea, and also they should have a redstone motor that makes redstone move. That would be useful in making elevators and train systems.

Yea, but thats a pain in the neck and ugly.
Definitely not a pain in the neck unless you're leaning your neck back on a brick while playing, it's extremely simple to make.
And it's no more ugly than random holes and/or 1x1 block towers from vertical redstone.

Communism is not inherently bad. Just saying.
