Basically I think making redstone go vertical takes too much time. So I came up with this idea.
What if you can combine redstone w/ a slimeball to make STICKY REDSTONE.
Its 8 redstone w/ 1 slimeball
It takes "too much time" to place a block, place a redstone torch over it, repeat?
Honestly, it's not that complicated. Vertical redstone is cool as a mod (two mods, actually, Redpower and, obviously, Vertical Redstone, that I know of) but it's not so much an annoyance that it should be made into vanilla, in my opinion.

Each torch adds a tick of delay to the circuit.
Redpower has cables which power the blocks it touches. Which isn't always convenient.
Vertical Redstone is nice and all but a Vanilla addition might be nice.
+who doesn't like more uses for slimeballs...

Well, the torches over torches can only transmit redstone power up not down. It would be sort of useful to have this, even though it was suggested before.
Each torch adds a tick of delay to the circuit. http://www.minecraft...al_transmission "In 1.2 you can put Redstone on top of Glowstone. Youtuber CaptainSparklez showed a method for instant vertical transmission. With this method you can send the signal up to 13 blocks instantly." Although it doesn't apply downwards, but this may be a bug.
Redpower has cables which power the blocks it touches. Which isn't always convenient. Really? I never knew that, it didn't seem to do anything with what I was building...

+who doesn't like more uses for slimeballs... Yeah, but they could be applied to something better than vertical redstone...
Well, the current block then torch can only transmit redstone currents upwards. It would be sort of useful to have this, even though it was suggested before.
I've made it transmit downwards...in a little bit I'll have a video that shows it.
Edit:
"Colder than the snow that blankets the earth" "Colder than the ice that cover the stones and freezes the rivers" "Colder than the north wind blowing through a winter-bound forest" "Colder than all these is the smile of a Shade of the Dark"
I agree and yeah this has been suggested before but even if teh recipe doesnt include slimeballs just making it so redstone can simply be placed vertically along a wall saves time and effort and space so it can move up or down, and it would also be nice to be able to go on a ceiling so you can power ceiling lights a lot easier.
So I came up with this idea.

RRR
RSR = 8 Sticky redstone
RRR
R=redstone
S=slimeballs
Now you can make redstone go up and down
....that is all I have for now

make it a stack of redstone-slimeball-redstone, and it'll work better. redstone is a precious resource, not to be wasted.
Sig by Bigkaboom12.
So you'd rather make sticky redstone in batches of two at a time, spending four times as many slimeballs as you would with the OP's recipe?
what.
