Want to make a cool defense? Want to do more with fences? Now I shall tell you of a messy idea...: Barbwire and Electric fences! Let me start with barbwire. it would be similar to the cactus only more common, does more damage, and you have a very small chance of getting stuck in it. It would be crafted like this:
When you craft it, you get six barbwire fences. Mobs will try to avoid both fences but will occasionally get caught in it. There would also be gates. Gates would require a switch (button, lever, etc) They would be crafted like this:
Now let's get to redstone powered electric fences (also known as RPEF). RPEFs would be crafted like this:
Electric fences would be the same as barbwire only deadlier. It turns blue when it's on and looks like barbwire when it's off. it will do 5-6 hearts of damage and do more damage when you where armor that's not leather. Comment on what you think.
cool ideas, would help from the fact that zombies now break down doors, but you would need some sort of barbed gate. otherwise how would you get out without keeping 1 empty space on the trail of fences rendering it near useless?
I support this. Although, the recipe for the electric fence should be changed. Perhaps it should utilize blaze rods, or there should be a special drop for charged creepers (something that would produce the electric shock needed in an electric fence).
i shall change the electric fence recipe to blaze rods but it needs to have a redstone circuit to power it. that's why i called it a redstone powered fence. and i will add gates.
I support this idea a LOT. I belive this would look great in farms and I can't wait to you the barbed wire on top of the walls of my base. No more pesky spiders!
How about when creepers touch a RPEF, they would become charged creepers. Why? Because it says "Electric", and lightning is electric, so it makes sense.

Good idea, but I think catus already solves this problem, just in a simpler way. Lots of catus+some redstone+two pistons+a switch of some sort and you're in business.
I'd much rather have Jeb implement the original spike block he was considering adding. Recently, Dinnerbone also expressed interest shortly after tripwire was added. That could be used for wall defense as well as pit traps, piston death mashers, ceilings of death, etc. The OP idea is more limited.
