Here are a few bow elements I have come up with for future updates, these bow types include: Fire Bow, Freeze Bow, Explosion Bow, and Sharpness Bow, along with these another item would be the Spear, which I will get into lastly out of the 5
First is Fire Bow, this bow would have almost the same effect as the Flame enchantment except much easier to obtain than the rare enchantment, It would be crafted out of Fire Charges (in this photo Magma Cream) which I believe to be obtainable in multiplayer (correct me if I am wrong). This bow would be the center of the Flame enchant, which are either Flame 1 or 2. This would be the equivalent of Flame one and a half.
Next is the Freeze Bow, this bow upon hitting other users in PvP (Player vs Player) encounters would freeze the opponent for 2 seconds, this would give strong close-distance pvpers a GREAT advantage because they can easily switch right to their sword after hitting them with one of the arrows, 2 seconds may not seem like a long time, but it would add a great advantage to whoever is using it, the bow could also help you chase a run-away pvper who may be low on health. The bow would look something like this:
Third is the Explosion Bow, this would leave a small blast-radius around where the bow has landed, the size would be around 4x4 and look somewhat like a creeper explosion, this could help with long range shots because if the user is shooting someone far away as they approach, they could shot at the player they are chasing and put them into a pit that would take a good amount of time to get out of, especially without a shovel or pickaxe (which users never carry into pvp). Here is how this bow would be crafted:
Fourth, and the last bow is the Sharpness Bow, the Sharpness Bow would deal an extra 1-3.5 hearts in damage for each hit to a user or mob (depending on how far back the bow is pulled). The sharpness bow would be the equivalent of a Sharpness III sword, which takes about 26 xp levels, again making this much easier to obtain, this bow would again help when the user is being beaten and is needing to retreat, this would defiantly so down an enemy attack until you could heal. The Bow would be crafted like so but instead of an Iron Sword, it would be Diamond (we don't want this to be too easy for you ).
Lastly there is the Spear, there is not much to say about the Spear other than it is easy to craft, it is throwable, and stackable, deals .5-1 hearts (based on how easy they are to make), I have not come to the conclusion yet about the damage it will do. Here is how it turned out:

No. It's not a type, it's one element. And why? Why would it increase to the game?
Do Crossbows, or the Chinese Automatic one.. The spear idea is ancient, but i like it. You could use diamond powder to increase the damage.

The bone bow. More durable than a normal bow and has a greater range.
The Fire bow. More durable than the bone bow, has greater range and lights things on fire.
I don't really see the point in other bows that have explosion or freeze, unless it was an enchantment.
