A tool for grinding rocks and plants into dyes.
This way, you can't just craft flowers and stuff into usable dye.
Do you think it it would be possible to put a piece of raw lapis lazuli ore next to a piece of wool, smash them together and suddenly have blue wool?
Of course not. Perhaps taking things like Flowers, burnt Cactus, even Bones
and putting them into a Mortar and Pestal to make Dye Powders.
These dye powders can then be mixed and fine tuned according to the dye mixer's
choice.
Now, I have 3 possible candidates for how it would work.
First Candidate:
The Mortar and Pestal is a holdable tool that you left click a flower,
skeleton, squid, cactus, or Lapis Lazuli block with to obtain a Dye Powder.
Think of it as a "shear" of sorts. You "Shear" the squid and get ink sacs.
Second Candidate:
The mortar and pestal is a crafting ingredient. Combine it with a stack
of up to 64 Flowers, Ore, or other Raw Dyes and get the according amount
of dye powder back.
For instance: Mortar and Pestal + 32 Roses in any shape = 32 Rose Red powder
Third Candidate:
The Mortar and Pestal is a block with an interface, similar to the Furnace, used to create the dye.
Simply place Flint in the Fuel slot, and a raw dye in the ingredient slot,
and an arrow pointing upward between the two will slowly drain. An arrow pointing
to the right will fill up, and after it is full, will reset and a finished Dye Powder will show up.
What you are essentially doing is using the flint to grind up the ingredients.
I chose Flint as the fuel, because it doesn't have that many uses and is one
of the earliest used tools for smashing and grinding things. Hopefully
this will give people more of an incentive to not throw stacks of flint into the
lava bin.
Pick a candidate, and then give me a comment on that candidate please

Or do you want a larger variety of colours in minecraft?

This would be more realistic than the current system, and adds another block to put in factory buildings. Me gusta.
