I think redstone should be involved in some way.
I think it needs a pumpkin to fit in with the golem theme.
Also, what does it drop when destroyed, a block of obsidian?
All in all I like the idea.

Good idea! But I would suggest changing around the crafting of it, by adding the iron golem arms... so it is strong enough to draw the bow, you see, and a bit more expensive for an awesome turret thing.

well, the dispencer itself doesnt have arms, it shoots fine, and obsidian makes it perfectly expensive on it's own
The arrows only do 2.5 damage but hey, It's enough to keep zombies away from you...

There the half slabs are a dispenser.
It prettymuch looks like a dispenser on an obsidian column.
And it attacks ANYTHING that gets within 7 blocks of it. (Except for players, Unless the player that built it hit you... Then it'll shoot YOU.)
