Love them or hate them, I feel they're here to stay. (like potions) However, I see a great deal of threads for more/ mo golems, diamond golems, other ore golems, and obsidian golems. One of the main reasons to not add no more is "This isn't Golemcraft." Well, what about building, farming, enchanting, and brewing? Those are mining or crafting either, yet they're just as an integral part of Minecraft.
That brings me to what I was saying. Contiuing from my the Mo Golems thread someone else made, I want ideas for future golem additions. Utility mobs was added as a category on the Wiki and like the other groups, I'd love to see an increase to it. However, there's two things I don't want to see. Ore and "stronger/ weaker than" type Golems. Just because we have Iron Golems doesn't mean there's needs to be a Diamond golem with 75-100 hearts. No.. these are terrible ideas.
There is one thing I'd like convey before this discussion. While I want another two or three golems, I don't want to see a new golem every or even every other update. The next two or three could wait awhile. Alsom as with dimensions and ores, I don't want to see a crap ton of Golems just because we can. If that was the case, I'd see why people don't want Golemcraft, but adding two or three more golems seems reasonable enough, if only the time frame is reasonable. I'd preferably like to at least see a new golem sometime after 1.6 or 1.7.
On to the ideas, I'm just going to suggest my ideas and others can add on. Let me say what I don't want to see again.
1. No ore golems (This basically just means no other ore golems just because we can, not because I don't want them. (i.e. There's an Iron Golem? Then there's needs to be a diamond golem that does even more damage and has more health.) This would be a good example of what I'm against.)
2. No simply "stronger or weaker than" golems. (They need more of a point than that, just like any future ores do.)
Redstone Golem (for lack of better name) Created by: Placing a redstone torch, repeater, or block (if a Redstone block is added) on the same iron block formation as an iron golem. It would only be one of those btw, not one or the other. Whatever balances it the most. Health: Same as Iron Golem Strength: Same as Iron Golem Special: This is an idea I've seen people requesting a decent amount. Basically, this guy would follow along a redstone circuit or be within 2-5 blocks of said redstone circuit. A third idea would be it would follow the circuit like a path, but if a reachable mob gets with 2-5 blocks of the circuit, it would pursue and attack the mob the same way an Iron Golem attacks mobs.
Stone Golem Created by: Either can't be created or created via a block or two of mossy cobble. Health: Inbetween Iron Golem and Snow Golem. Strength: 2-4 hearts damage (2-3 for stone/ rock chunks/ rocks, 4-4.5 for physical attack) Special: A naturally spawning neutral mob that can pick up blocks (only stone though), like an Endermen, but can also throw them at you. Alternately, maybe it could throw infinite chunks of rock as projectiles. (Four rocks chunks could be crafted back to make stone and can be thrown like snowballs. Unlike snowballs, these actually hurt, but player-thrown rock chunks still do less damage than Stone Golem-thrown rocks chunks.)
I don't know about this one. I want a natrually spawning nature-related golem, but this could easily be the projectile golem that actually packs a punch. Mossycobble is something you can't craft or get from cobblestone any other way, so that would kind of balance things out. It'd also look more natural in their appearence. I'm not sure about the formation, but I'd want it to be about as big, if not bigger than an Iron Golem (i.e. a quarter of the way to a Giant), so.. Also, they could do the same attack as the iron golem in close quarters, but for less damage (it do the most damage) and air time.
Fire Golem Created by: 2-4 blocks of netherrack, 2 netherbrick, and lava (This is a combo of the way to make snow golem and iron golem. "The head" would be hunched, so the lava = the head.)
or
= Netherbrick = Netherrack
Health: A little more than a Snow Golem Strength/ Special: It shoots out fire charge-like projectiles, that can only hurt entities, not the environment, so it wouldn't be much of a fire spreader. (aka griefer tool) They do the same damage as fire charges. Also, they're a little smaller and more agile than iron golems. They don't naturally spawn and can only be allied to the player. They follow the player around like wolves until death or if they're corralled with fencing or blocks. (Will wander off if player isn't present and can't teleport, like wolves.) I'm not sure what could be used to tell them to stay put, but that could be the alternate.
This is more of a secondary idea for a projectile golem than anything. The lava would instantly activate it, so you wouldn't have to worry about lava spread, unless you did it wrong.
"I don't plan to add a new dimension at the moment. It's just to performance heavy on servers, and the current dimensions need more attention before we start adding new ones." < Yeah, like biomes or actual varied terrain in the nether. Nether ruins didn't do the trick at all.

It makes Minecraft more fun. Not all games do what it says in the actually name.

I find the lack of turtles in your thread disturbing
I don't know about the Testificate thing, but I like the idea of the neutral golem fighting other golems. Maybe, it could hate all other golems, especially player-created ones. Meh.. not sure. So, wander when there's no redstone current and follow it when it finds one? Hmm.. maybe a golem that shoots projectiles should fill that role and not a modified Iron Golem. I just thought we could have an Iron Golem that doesn't have to be fenced in to not wander off. The redstone wire would act sort of a fence/ pathway for it.
As for the original Fire Golem idea, if that was to somehow be accepted into vanilla instead, his health would be his weakness. That's why I went for such low health. Actually, I think it should be 4-7 hearts. The Snow Golem's appears to be only 3. I want the Fire Golem to be weak, but not weak enough to easily one hit. Also, nice idea with the rain and water hurting the Fire Golem. That makes a whole lot of sense. Maybe.. no.. that might create a new way to grief, but I was thinking maybe his presence near flammable objects would set them on fire. Umm.. I guess the solution to the rain issue would be to keep him under a roof, trapped behind a fence, but that would limit his potential mob-killing power.
Edit: I just thought of a good idea. The Fire Golem would be exactly like a Snow Golem in terms of what he does, except one thing. If you hit a mob/ animal or another player, it'll target that and only that target. (kind of weakness, if it tagged a zombie, but you hit something else.. oh well..) The problem here is he'd probably be kind of a bad animal harvester and would probably catch two other pigs on fire in the process. I guess this would be recommended, unless you had the pig to be killed trapped in fencing and the fire golem right next to you.
