Not long ago i was about to go mining in my minecraft world and i noticed my pickaxe was almost broken and I thought "I wish I could fix my pick."
How It Works An anvil would work like a furnace in the way that you need something to power it for a funace its coal for a anvil its what ever the tool you want to fix is maade out of. For example if i had a almost broken I would use to power the anvil. If i had a I would use to power it.
How To Craft It
It would be made out of smooth stone blocks in a pattern like so...
I don't see why it makes no sense, I think it does. You are jury rigging together two broken items.
As for this anvil, I think it should be added too. However, it requires the full materials of the object you are repairing to repair it. It repairs it to full, and maintains enchantments. With this in mind the anvil would be a good way to fix enchanted tools and the jury rigging could be used for standard tools.
Yes, but you need 2 broken tools for that. I'm not big fan of this system.
Then you miss the point. I've said before, on every "item repair station" and "anvil" suggestion I've seen: "Build diamond pick, use till almost-last use, repair", no matter how expensive or complicated or whatever it may be, is simply put, overpowered. The entire point of durability is for tools not to last, not for players to go "oh, I'm low on this, LOL REPAIR"
I made a thread about this but it got locked cause there was one simular to it, wich was this one, so I'll contribute to it none-the-less. What my suggestion differed from yours: It used 4 iron blocks in the short T pattern, this would balance it a little becuase it keep the enchantments. Thought there were more, but there really isn't.

*Builds diamond pick, uses untill almost no use, builds another pick, uses it a little, LOL REPAIR* Unless you think the current type of repair system is op, then your reason would contritict itself. Remember, you would use materials to repair it, your making it sound like its a free repair. EDIT: Plus, OP no matter how it is? That doesn't make sence. You can ALWAYS put limitations on things to make it not op, no matter what it is.

So what do you think?

I do know of this but it really makes no sence. I think this should be gotten rid of and replaced with the anvil or something similar to it.

[quote=Badgerz]You have to keep in mind that people are stupid.
[quote=Catelite]Just because you don't understand how something works, doesn't make it broken or pointless. >_<
