All of the mobs that are hostile (not counting Nether, End, and cave mobs) always spawn at nighttime and burn or despawn in the morning, so I think that there should be some daytime enemies added to the game. However, they are mostly real life predators, not the undead, creepers, and giant spiders of nighttime. The new hostile daytime mobs that I want are:
EAGLE: Eagles will spawn in Extreme Hills biomes at about double the rarity of Endermen at night. They will be brown, 3 blocks wide from wing tip to wing tip, 2 blocks long, and 2/3 block tall when flying, and when sitting, 2 blocks tall and 1 block wide and long, with the tail sticking out another 1 block. They will have 15 hearts and do 4 hearts of damage, and see things 75 blocks away. Sometimes, they will grab chickens or baby animals, fly away to a mountaintop with them, then kill and eat them. If they try to pick up a baby wolf it will start attacking them and they will drop it and fly away. They drop xp and 5-10 feathers when killed.
BEAR: Bears will spawn in any forest or snow biome at 2x the rarity of Endermen, just like eagles. They will be the size of cows, with brown or black fur. They'll have 10 hearts and do 4 hearts of damage, and see stuff 16 blocks away. When killed, they drop nothing, like wolves.
That's all I have for now, feel free to add anything you want.

I'm going to mash signature stuff together: I tested 100% positive for MC addiction, I'm a black knight, support crappy trees, my color is red, and microsoft destroys to a cactus.
I agree with this idea... EXCEPT for the fact that Eagles attack at will. I think they should be more like wolves, with their attack if attackedness.
If this is changed, then a for you.

Cool idea! Something I might add to that is eagles can drop an Eagle Claw, which can be made into an Eagle Claw spear, wich does less damage than a sword and has a longer range
I like your idea. But like other said, eagles shouldn't attack unless you provoke them. Bears on the other hand I have always thought would be cool. Passive until you get too close, then they are hostile... What is a forest without bears? A boring yet safe forest
I say not Eagles. Maybe a wyvern, but eagles don't usually imply "hostile", or even neutral (attacked when provoked).
Edit: I'd also like to say no to bears. I don't think any real life animal (spiders excluded because of how big they are) should be hostile in any way. It just doesn't fit.
Well I agree with the concept whole heartedly. hostile day mobs in the form of animals. I don't agree with your excecution.
Eagles seem over all OP. A flying mob with 15 hearts and that big. the thing would mortify new players, and then kill them. I'm biased in the flying mob debate, but your eagle is a monster surpassing even the ghast and rivaling the enderman.
Eagle: purely no, due to OP and lack of possible balance.
I like your bears. big grouchy animals that will happily maul your face. Only problem is drops. The reason wolves drop nothing (and ocelots too) is because they are meant to be tamed. they provide use through a different means. bears could drop leather, meat, and/or fish.
Bears: agreed, fixed drops.Well I agree with the concept whole heartedly. hostile day mobs in the form of animals. I don't agree with your excecution.

I'd like to see some predator on prey action, as in different jobs actually attacking each other, not just accidentally hitting each other. Oh, I almost forgot about this, but I made this suggestij ages ago... http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/293571-wild-bears/
HOSTILE mobs that spawn during day will probably, as Builder said, give you no time to prepare. However I was talking about HOSTILE mobs, NEUTRAL mobs would be better for the day.

So eagles are tougher than bears? I don't think hostile day time mobs should spawn, at least, not at first. It would be awful if a new player spawns, spots a mountan and thinks: I think I'll go over there and look around from the top! And is then killed by an OP eagle. So I think these should either be weaker; or it should be easyer to avoid a fight with them, Like an endermen: tough, but rewarding.

There's a difference between a hero and a champion. A champion overcomes threats, but a hero overcomes fears.
