While plaing in superflat is fun and challenging eventually items limited to spawning in villages and the nether aren't enough. The most important items missing are sand, red stone and the end. Without sand you cant make any glass and therefore cant make potions. Red stone eliminates a lot of potential blocks and usefull items. Without the end you can't officially beat minecraft on superflat which would be a good challenge.
Also the lack of melon, pumpkin, sugarcane and snow is slightly disappointing but nothing dramatic. Sugar cane would have to be needed more than the others for maps, bookshelves and later writing books.
To add those into superflat there could be a change in how strongholds are generated so that they can be above ground partially as they contain redstone and the portal of corse. At the least the end portal rooms could always spawn the portal where the strongholds should be even if in a ravine or above ground in this case. Im sure this would save a few extra portals in regular worlds. Strongholds could also change in the way that if they are above ground they move downwards until they aren't. This may not help as portals aren't always on the top of the stronghold but would give me hope still.
Another solution would be to add more items to the villiage chests. Maybe have chests spawn near the farm containing all possible seeds and plants. To the blacksmith chests there could be red stone and lapis and clay added to them. Even having chests in some of the houses containing random blocks i would love. Snowballs could be added too just for players on superflat to have some. Even adding sand somewhere in the villiage layout potentially would make a difference.
If you don't agree to this go play on superflat in survival!
Supefflat is for creative, not survival. If its purpose was for survival, I'm sure these things would be in the mode.
I must disagree, Superflat is for both Survival and Creative. Survival and even Hardcore superflat is extremely popular, just look and some youtubers doing them.
To the OP, I do see where you are coming from, but the charm of superflat is that you have to make do with what you have on you from the villages you find. Plus, all of these items could already be found in chests, so your idea is kind of redundant. You just need to find more chests, by going to more villages. The stronghold idea is interesting, and that could work, so I can accept that. I can also accept the idea for sand in villages, but no random chest containing the items you want.

The chests don't have those items. They dont spawn every item in the game.
