In Pocket Edition, there's an unused texture for the Camera, which can be found by going through its files.
(here it is: )
The camera would be an awesome addition to regular minecraft.
You could take pictures, show off your creations to others in MP, use it as a guide for building stuff (not very practical, but still possible), or even hang it on the wall as a painting.
You would be able to craft the camera like this:
(sorry if it's bad, the 3x3 crafting grid minecraft provides is very limited)
Now how the camera would work is, you would put down the camera, put a film in, and simply send a redstone signal to take a picture.
What is a film, you say? I'm assuming most people know what a film is, but for you people that grew up with fancy digital cameras, in real life, you would put the film in the camera, take some pictures, and you would take it to someone for a couple days for him to develop it before you get your nice little picture.
Now this is how you craft the film: (creates 3)
(The dyes can be any dye you want, so you won't have to remember like the exact order )
When you right-click the camera, it would bring up a GUI screen with two slots, one for the film and one for the output finished picture.
When the picture's taken, the film would pop back out, and it would have the same purple shimmer as potions, enchanted items, and signed books.
Now, you could right-click with the film in your hand and it would bring up another GUI screen, with the picture you've taken and three buttons on the bottom: Develop, Clear, and Cancel.
The "Develop" button develops the film and turns it into a picture that can be placeable on walls, etc.
The "Clear" and "Cancel" buttons are pretty self-explanatory: If you're dissatisfied with the picture, you could press the clear button and receive a brand new, unused film in return. If you wish to exit the screen, press Cancel or simply the Esc key.
To hang your picture, just right click it at a painting and it would display your picture, and it won't consume your picture so you don't have to take the picture again when you later decide to move it.
And if you want to name it, you would simply be able to right-click it, and it would bring up a simple GUI screen to name your beautiful picture.
You can also put the pictures in books.
There would be a "Add Picture" button on the bottom of the writing GUI, and clicking that would bring up a screen that you could drag your picture item from your inventory and onto the book.
Double-clicking on a picture in a signed book will fullscreen-view the picture, and you could add maps to books just like pictures.
That is all, hope you enjoyed, and reply in the comments what you think!
Edit: Also, huge thanks to AnonTheMouse for suggesting lots of great ideas
Personaly, I don't particularly care for this idea. I don't see the benefits to this other than some sort of surveillance system. I think the camera could be more useful for shooting videos though. If it were to shoot videos it would allow people in single player to make videos without recording what is on thier screen and it would allow people in multiplayer to record without having an extra person be the camera man. That's just my thoughts.
Unless it served as some sort of monitoring system by taking pictures of anyone walking past it, I doubt it could take the place of the 'snapshot' button, since it's so convenient.
However, the idea of turning pictures into portraits isn't such a bad idea.
I was thinking about putting up a suggestion like this today, but then I did a search. I think that this is good, and very close to what I would have suggested. There are only a few things I would do differently.

Well, since if it were redstone activated (something I agree with) it could be used remotely.
Here's what I would change;
Recipe:
This design more closely matches the materials in the model. Also, gold has precedent in gadgets.
Film:
This incorporates a page, rather than wood.
Additionally it uses RGB, CMY, and B&W dyes...in other words, the colour printing spectrum.
I mostly agree with how the camera should work, but there are some slight alterations I would say could improve it.
First off, two slot inventory. One for film, and the other for output.
Second, developing seems overcomplicated. I would say that the output should be an "Enchanted" painting. Right click to view and you can either "Clear" giving you a film back, "Develop" to name and make permanent, or "Cancel" to leave alone. A picture would need to be developed to be placeable, and you would select its wall size when "developing".
Assuming that Jeb implements a Printing Press, as he has spoken of doing, pictures, like books, could by copied with one.
Finally, I think that pictures should be able to be added to books. When writing in a book, you would have an "Add Illustration" button, which allows you to take a developed or undeveloped picture out of your inventory, and insert a thumbnail of it into the text. By clicking on it, someone reading the book could see that same picture enlarged. Maps could also be used as illustrations.
And you can share them with people in-game?
Put them on the wall of your Minecraft house?
Add them to a book for players?
Not to mention that you could add some interesting achievements with this. For instance, a rare Yeti-like mob that tries not to be seen. Achievement for getting a pic of it.

I will add it to the OP. Thanks so much!
