Ok, I have three things I would like to be added to Minecraft. One thing that REALLY bothers me and two thing that would make for many more possibilites in-game.
1. Experience. (The thing that bothers me)
We all know that mobs drop experience, and this is used to enchant items. Why do only mobs drop experience? This is MINEcraft, not MOBcraft. You should be able to get some experience just from mining. Of course you can't get as much, but at least some. Say like. One mob equals 50 blocks? Something like that.
2. Open chest.
First I would like to mention The Allocator: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/199625-new-block-the-allocator
This is something that should be implementet right away. This would revolutionize farming, and has lots of other posibilites. But I have thought of another way to implement the farming part of it. What if you could leave a chest in an open state, so things would drop into it. This would be so nice to have in mob grinders and farms.
3. Pistons breaking blocks.
The original piston mod broke blocks, and this should be implementet in some way. At least on cobblestone, I would really like a automatic cobblestone generator and harvester. What if the spike block that Jeb has mentioned would allow pistons to break blocks? And this combines with open chests or allocator would be wonderful.
I really hope someone from the Mojang team sees this. I know there are many other people out there who want this as much as I do, if not more!

"People should not be afraid of their government, the government should be afraid of the people!"
But then again, piston contraptions have been made to make things fully automatic, so I'm not too sure about whether or not the allocator should or shouldn't be added
xD

I only like 1 and 2. How about instead of a new chest, chests that receive redstone input are always open. You could just open the chest the way it was already done if you wanted to.

Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.
Please click the dragons, they need to grow. Also, my fully grown dragons can be found in my bio.

Never said we needed a new chest Only that we could leave the chest open, for example like you just suggested

we could use allocators and chests in our automatic farms, then we could just let them collect on their own, instead of waiting 3 minnutes in the dark surrounded by mobs for 5 sugarcane
allocators could be used with chests and signs for shops in smp allong with other minigames, use alocators with larger collections of items put out at random instead of just 9 stacks of items

I know, the possibilities are endless.

I see your point, but thank you

Oh, I thought you meant a new chest. And then we could have iron chests that can only be accessed when opened by redstone.
