In general i'd like to see methods of preventing hostile mob spawning without simply lighting up an area, something more expensive than torches and much more effective. the idea i came up with is exposed red-stone currents (not just a block powered by a switch or button). It would:
1 prevent hostile mobs from spawning in a large distance (greater than torches)
2 Cause hostile mobs to move away from the redstone current unless chasing a player or NPC.
(Or maybe redstone doped with lapis lazuli if the effect is to powerful for only redstone to be used)
No i didn't, perhaps you should re-read my post, unless i have a fatally flawed understanding of what the words "large distance" mean which i don't think i do.

okay, but thats still pointless. torches are easier to get than redstone, and they already to a pretty good job of preventing mobs from spawning. i still think that the devs have more important things to do than this, honestly

Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.

BTW, dboss, don't just go to suggestion threads and say "pointless". That is not helpful at all, at does not improve the original suggestion.
Keep on derpin'
