Let's get some giant worms into minecraft. What do you say?
To summarize the below posts:
If they died, they would drop gold nuggets and possibly a diamond or even some redstone dust.
They would not discriminate between mobs (cows, chickens, skeletons, etc all the same) or player.
They would make a trembling sound moments before breaking ground and hopefully coming straight up underneath the target.
They would have to chew the mob/player up before they could go back down into the earth.
They couldn't travel through stone. Cobblestone, dirt, sand and air would be its mediums of movement.
They couldn't come out of the ground more than 10 squares above the breaking surface level.
They could be between 1x1x8 up to 5x5x40.
The 5x5 ones could be ridden. Maybe like in Dune with iron hooks.
They would have health relative to their size, and drops as well. The largest would be among the strongest in the game.
You could ride one to your enemies' castle and eat their walls. Then them. Then all of their livestock.
There would be an option to turn them off.
There would only be one or two at a time within the players' active mob-spawn area.
It would grow as it ate and would be bigger the longer you play.
You'd have to fight them with diamond or iron weapons and/or make your basement out of stone.
Yes it would be overpowered in general. It would be a great addition to hardcore.
They are tough but they would have decent drops and be sort of controllable/rideable only when larger.
I could see confining them to deserts, that's very reasonable.
I don't believe you could do a proper giant-worm while making them like a normal mob. That would be more of a snake I think. Which is also a cool idea. Make me some snake skin boots.
Being very large is mandatory for this concept and you're right, it would be unique in terms of its size.
I think other mobs would have to have a 'flee' response to the worms unless armed.
Why? Why not?

Now edit that on the Opening post
Since I have to go, I'll make this quick
I think you're overpowering these things, even the almighty creepers have weaknesses and easier ways of combating
But still, it's a nice idea

Couldn't you just write a list of bulleted text instructions instead of making me watch another horribly narrated youtube video?

To summarize the below posts:
What kind of models would they have?
How would they act?
Would they drop anything if they died?
How much health would it have?

What I mean is that they should be like regular mobs and not some sort of boss monster.
