Ok, so, heres my update Note: This is the first draft i thought about while showering in the morning, its a little fuzzy, but will be improved with support.
So, we all know about the "Adventurers Update". and many updates for miners, and builders, well, what about that simple person who wants detail > Size? Well, here it is.
1: The first thing is Chairs. These would ether be crafted, or be automaticly made when 2 signs are attached to the side of a step. These not only would be made into a better looking, 1 block sized chair, but you can sit. Sitting would increase your regeneration and slow your hunger decreaseion. And that's not all. you can right click the chair with a piece of coloured wool in your hands, and BOOM It changes colour. These would also add more "Comfort" And slow your food decreaseion even more.
2: Carpets. These carpets would be made the same way as a slab, but with any kind of wool. Now, you may be thinking "Why not just place wool?" Well, because wool is to high, not as efficient (3 pieces of wool = 6 pieces of carpet) and carpet, like slabs, are just half a block, BUT, here's the kicker, they can only be placed at the TOP of the block. (This is to make other furniture touch, and not to a weird hover...),
3: Marble Blocks. Marble blocks would be found in the ground (Quite deep, around the level where slimes spawn) It of, of course, white in colour, and a polished, glassy look for a texture. 4 in a square make a marble brick. You can also get slabs from marble.
4: Oven. The oven would be made by placing 5 cobblestone in a U shape, and closing the top with marble. the Oven would act like a furnace, but ONLY cooks food, is more efficiently, can cook 4 stacks at a time (With same source) and if you only burn half a piece of coal, it would stay (Beside the burning item slot there would be a % meter, from 100% to 0%) The oven would also have a new feature, very rarely when cooking a single piece of meat, it may make it a "Wonderful cooked *Insert food name here*" This piece of food would NOT be found any other way. when eaten it will make BOTH the health of the player, and the food bat of the player regenerate untill full, but take 4 times longer to eat and do NOT stack.
5: Fridge. These would be made from iron ingots in a pants shape, a snowball at the bottom, and a dispenser in the middle. The fridge would only store food, and when right or left clocked eject a piece of food from inside. Fridges are the ONLY container capable of holding "Wonderful cooked *Insert food here*" And when other food is kept inside it will fill an additional 1/2 food icon, IF the food has been in for at least 30 Real life minutes.
6: Table. The table would be made with 3 slabs (wooden or marble) over top of 2 sticks (Which would be under each side of the top) The table would cover a 4X4 area and be 1 block high. If you right click food while looking at the table, a plate will appear, if you click again the food will be placed on the plate. You can then eat if sitting in a chair, or standing up and right clicking.
7: Couch: Made simply by placing 2 or 3 stairs next to each other and then placing the signs on the side. Called a bench if no wool is placed on it. can fit multiple people, if 1 piece is broken, it breaks into the original pieces.
8: Clocks.A clock would be made by placing a watch (In a crafting area) surrounded by 8 (Of the same kind) pieces of wood. when places all sides (But the top and bottom) Show the current Minecraft time the same way the current watch does. If placed in the nether or the end it will spin extramly fast, then explode 5X the current TNT force.
9: Side table: These would be a wooden/marble slab over a stick, these occupy a 1X1X1 area.
10: And lastly, all of these things would be incorporated into the villagers spawning. You may also find viligers sitting in a chair while in their houses.

Got some extra money to throw away? I need a new PC that can actually play minecraft : http://goo.gl/Ar9Kj
the clockwork inside is powered by a scientific scale not seen anywhere else to stay on perfect timing. when no local time is found the nuclear core inside that keeps the clock ticking over heats causing an explosion.
Okay, these are nice ideas... But either you're suggesting a new ore (Marble) and a new accessory (watch), or you're just incredibly confused as to what items are already in the game.
AND WHY DO WE NEED AN OVEN, FOR THE NETHER'S SAKE?!

Excuse me, but that was my comment you just read there, bub.
I like all the ideas, and idk why people dont understand what a wall clock is. And why not add marble? it would be more of a decoration block like lapis is.

sorry, i call the current clock in game the watch, and the oven, as said, is AwSoMe. And Marble is tied in with the update for the home-owners
I am with you on most, except the fridge and the oven, while I am so-so on the sofa. We already have a furnace, and the fridge does not seem particularly useful in any way of sorts.
We are missing a lot of interior decorations in this game. We often resort to creative attempts to scramble together something that looks like a table, or something that looks like the chair. The satisfactory of the result is not as much as if we were to be able to get the actual things, like an actual chair instead of a stair case, or an actual table instead of raised pistons.
I'd like to add something to the chair or sofa. When we sit down, we would recover HP, regardless of the amount of stamina or food meter we have. We usually need to have the food meter almost full to start healing, but sitting down allows you to heal if you have at least 1 food count left. You will of course not heal if you have 0 food counts left, in which case your health decreases by starving. Furthermore, the rate of decrease of food meter counting down is stopped. Your food meter will not decrease as long as you are sitting.

remember, this IS mostly for decorative uses. i just gave them a use as well. and the oven IS useful, mostly in Multiplayer though. But still, cooking 4 things at once with 100% efficiently IS quite interesting no? And the fridge would heal you an extra 1/2 food bar. so a cookie in the fridge would heal 1 full bar instead of 1/2 of one.
I like some of these ideas and everything though you should allow for a wider variety of different looking chairs. Maybe even a throne or something added in. The main suggestion I'll make though is that you should change your carpet slabs to be the size of 'snow' and act basically the same, this means it could only be placed on top of a block and would fall to a regular item if the block underneath it was destroyed. (Yes I know snow doesn't act exactly like that) this would allow people to place a 'sheet' of carpet over the top of things without having to worry about raising their whole house up/donw by half a block.

That was my first idea, but as it would be an actual object it's hit box may be different, and if it was just the bottom layer of a block, placing something on it would be imposable without removing it (Such as snow will disappear if you place a block, or you cannot place a torch in the same spot as redstone dust) now, i don't know the game's engine code, but unless it can be placed with a different block, its not useful (As the 4X4 table would have 4 legs, but can be seen under, and side table would have 1 leg, and be able to be seen under, if the carpet was missing, it would look TERRIBLE)
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that how the game mechanics current work?

It doesn't make any sense. Warm food is more healthy for you than cold food in real life.
I know this is mostly for decorative, but it is still a lot to ask for of something that is almost a duplicate of the furnace. Couldn't you have suggested a decoration any more different? Plus the fridge doesn't fit the theme of minecraft, but it is good for a mod, though shouldn't be in the actual game. I am playing a medieval style buildings map, a fridge would be useless for decoration.
Programming in these chairs would be kind of nonsensical, as we already have potions and Golden Apples to speed up the health regeneration, so adding an easy to make chair to do this would render both the potions and Golden Apples obsolete, as if they were added for nothing. Also, I don't think anyone would want to sit still in a chair for the sole purpose of slowing their hunger decrease if they already have full health.
(This is to make other furniture touch, and not to a weird hover...),
No need for carpets. If people want a carpet look, they'll just place wool at ground level, and not on top of the ground.
3: Marble Blocks. Marble blocks would be found in the ground (Quite deep, around the level where slimes spawn) It of, of course, white in colour, and a polished, glassy look for a texture. 4 in a square make a marble brick. You can also get slabs from marble.
Not the worst idea, but there's not much point in adding a new block type that appears at the bottom of maps that can only be used for decoration.
This is basically just a furnace but can only work with food, along with the added ability to make food cooking way too easy. Also, having food being prefixed "Wonderful cooked" is really weird, and having food restore both hunger and health is too overpowered, because that would make the "Potion of Instant Healing" useless.
Very unnecessary, and like your previous ideas, makes other items/potions obsolete.
Pointless.
7: Couch: Made simply by placing 2 or 3 stairs next to each other and then placing the signs on the side. Called a bench if no wool is placed on it. can fit multiple people, if 1 piece is broken, it breaks into the original pieces.

If placed in the nether or the end it will spin extramly fast, then explode 5X the current TNT force.
We already have clocks, and having them explode with x5 force of TNT is insanely random and too powerful.
9: Side table: These would be a wooden/marble slab over a stick, these occupy a 1X1X1 area.
Pointless.
10: And lastly, all of these things would be incorporated into the villagers spawning. You may also find viligers sitting in a chair while in their houses.

Decoration is usually pointless, and the clock has uses, like in The End, place it near the health re-gen points then run off, it would blow up, and you'd me OK, if done successfully. And about the Wonderful food, as stated above, it is VERY RARE, And it is nerfed by its long eating time, so in PVP your screwed, And the table is not pointless, if you play on a RP Server, or if you want to eat normal food without having it in your inventory. Yes there is cake, but cake is one of THE most complicated food ever. And if the fridge does not suit your design, DON'T USE IT lol. and as stated above, the carpet would be changes when the hit-boxes allow multiple objects in one location. And about the chairs, lets say your in a server with you, and someone else, or a "Hunger games" Server, Prolonging the amount of time your food has until it runs out, so if your partner is out getting food, you can sit, or if you need to go take a REALLY big dump, sit before you leave, and hopefully your person won't starve to death.
Your ideas would fit better in a mod, as Mojang wouldn't go through the trouble of adding that kind of thing to vanilla. Your exploding clock idea is still overpowered, and would make more sense if combined with something else explosive. I think Mojang would want to leave cake as the only "place down" food or else we'd have more by now.

I'd love to see functionality where you could apply a clock to a wall (the same way you'd place a painting) and - bam - you'd have a wall clock. It'd be useful for me to have in underground structures near the exits, so I could know if I was exiting into a field full of mobs or into the daylight.
I like the chairs, though to be honest why I'd really want to see them is for use in machinima.
Ovens and fridges seem redundant to me, without adding a lot of functionality. I could see fridges being useful if there was a mechanism to, say, melt snowballs and spoil food after a certain period of time, and the only way to store those things was in a fridge, but I'm not sure I'd like that in my everyday Minecraft gaming. I could see it applied in a game mode (or addon, like Hardcore) to add challenge, but at this point I've basically invented another game mode to justify that item, so I'll stop. XD
