I think it would be a good little pastime for Mojangto implement a collecting aspect to Minecraft.
For instance, many of you have kept the Dragon Egg and put it on display.
Say we add many other rare items, that you can collect and display as well,
and after you've done the End, you've made your house, you've built a gigantic
castle of nether brick and you've enchanted 6 Pickaxes with Fortune III.
Collecting would give you something to do after that and have a somewhat fun experience doing so.
Which is, the main point of games right?
I remember when I found a Pink Sheep in the natural world for the first time.
I was insanely blown away because I had read somewhere that it was very rare, a treasure to remember.
Because some of the items are rare and people would really want
to add them to their collection, they could even be used as a sort
of currency on servers.
addend.
Or, now that the NPC villages have had trading for quite a while now, used to get large amounts of emeralds from the NPCs if you're willing to spend that much time treasure hunting to get these collectables.
The different ideas are alternative approaches to the basic concept you just read.
Tell me which one you like, which ones you don't like, and which ones you'd like together.
Idea 1
So I was thinking, howabout having new types of Fish that we can catch.
They all turn into Cooked fish when baked in a furnace, but they will have
different names. Some are rarer than others.
You can right click signs with them to make a trophy with the fish's unique sprite
over the sign with the fish's name and weight on the sign.
For instance:
9-Spined Stickleback Weight: 40 grams
Consumer: Farmer, Cook
Base Value: 2 Emeralds A rare fish you caught. Try selling it to someone who cooks.
Idea 2
As a second option, there could be Bugs.
Bugs are not actually models, they are just sprites that float in the bottom of an air block
touching another land material such as stone or grass or mycelium.
If you catch them with a Glass Bottle, they can be mounted on display as well
on signs.
For instance:
Blaze Scorpion
Weight: 5 grams
Consumer: Librarian, Priest
Base Value: 10 Emeralds A scorpion you found, near a Blaze spawner. Someone with knowledge might want this.
Idea 3
Or as a third option, it could be Artifacts, left by the ancients.
You find them in 12x12 chambers of Obsidian hugging the bedrock, which may or may not
be covered in lava depending on random chance.
Inside are 2 chests, 1 trap chest and 1 normal chest.
The trap chest will activate a Dropper above your head, with a bucket of lava stored inside.
The normal chest will contain an Artifact such as this:
Rune Etched Emerald
Weight: 10 grams
Consumers: Librarian, Blacksmith
Base Value: 25 Emeralds It appears to be a currency from long before. Maybe it will be of even more value today.
It could be anything.
Rare plants, villagers making some totems(with minecraft taste), statutes and so on if I were to add.
I think monjang likes to condensensate game content all together. Not only giving one purpose but giving them
more complex relation to one item to another if they were to add new item or feature.
Sounds alright, and it might be even be a bonus if you can catch a bug that can light up. I have one question though. These fish... How are you able to tell what kind of fish you caught after they're cooked in a furnace?

You're not supposed to cook them

I added a third option and more content so that this bump would be more legal than it already was.
