Wouldn't it be cool if you could get rubber! you could craft tires, then planes, trains, and aoutomobiles!
step 1.) find jungle
step 2.) get rubber from tree, (1 in 4 chance) from jungle wood
step 3.) cure in furnace (smelt)
step 4.)Craft
ex.
R= rubber
I =Iron ingot
fffR
R I R -tire
fffR
RRR
R R -fuel tank
RRR
These are just a few of endless possibilities, What will YOU craft with rubber?
-servo270BTW, the "f"s in front of the R in tire is to space it better.
Maybe you could use rubber to make a trap?
Like block people (or mobs) in a structure in which they can't leave because of rubber?
But still this is a good idea, I just feel that the way it was presented could use some work (i.e.: talking about cars, tanks, etc.) But a small plane would be awesome
Maybe an alternative and more accurate method of harvesting it is to find oil deposits underground,
Oil
dark liquid, flows like lava
sucks objects into it
I.E.
Water
Oil
water
makes a trap, mobs walk in, drown in the tar/oil
stuff flows into collection. Tada!
I think rubber would be a good future addition to Minecraft when it's developed into including modern technology, but currently, I would say that rubber does not belong...yet. There's very few non-modern uses of rubber, unfortunately. But it would be fun due to it's bouncing and friction and other great properties when used in different applications.
>_>. I can safely say that the level of technology you are trying to introduce to the game is highly anachronistic. It's not about time or theme, it's about the curious absence of intermediate technology which would give these items the ability to exist without seeming out of place.
Cars and planes came around during the industrial revolution and (consequently) the industrial age, so without defining characteristics of the industrial age, this is just... Bad.
