Sorry to break it for you, but diamonds are suppose to be rare. With a large supply of Obsidian, Coal, and Lava underground, this would discourage people to genuinely find diamonds.
I thought that the coal-to-diamonds things wasn't true. Or am i just confused?
It's true. Synthetic diamonds is a huge industry.

C= Coal
L= Lava
in open world not crafting table, and the enchant that gives you the coal block not coal item.

(Example somthing in that settings)
And let it set for a couple days (Or what ever time)
The coal block turns into a diamon block
