NPC villages should be more than just villages. We should have towns, tunnels, sewers.. etc!
Modern Villages (Cities)
These cities have buildings that are taller than their village counterparts. They have observation rooms at the top which are filled with windows. These cities can have a total population of about 20 or 30, but it can vary. A lot. They have sewer systems from the wells, so you can get ample water. These cities can have a small minecart system or mine underneath them, showing that they have an advanced civilization.
VRail (All, Depending)
VRail is short for Villager Rail, the term given to minecart systems in villager cities. Villagers get in these minecarts to travel around town, and they get out when they get to their station. Minecarts are blue, showing the VRail logo, a straight blue stripe.
Tunnels (All, Depending)
Tunnels are underground mines that are not abandoned. Sometimes they can have good items, but the downside to them is that they dont have many good items in the chests [the mines are new] Sometimes, miner villagers will be in the mines, mining away. If they find a good ore, they will store it in a nearby chest... only half, however.

To keep it simple, I would suggest having chests in other buildings. you know those chests that appear in forges? well i suggest chests be put in a bank-like structure of some sort. the chest there would probably house valuable/rare stuff like diamond blocks or Lapis (the blue ore)
by the way, i heard something regarding desert villages made out of sandstone being put into minecraft in the next update. so thats one off the list.
I also like the idea of villages in the nether made out of netherrack that are inhabated by pigmen.

Do you hate Little Einsteins? I do! the Little Einsteins hate the Furry Fandom, Pokecombat Academy, and all of you.
Good idea. All exept the modern. Minecraft isnt really supposed to be modern. Yet part modern little midevile and most fantasy. Modern just wouldnt fit in.

The cities would be like a... form of village, there'd still be regular villages.
