A wall would be an interesting item for addition to the game, or at least for a mod. Basically, it is a thin strip of a certain material that is placed, not on a block, but on the line between two blocks. An illustration would work best to explain this:

Please pardon the white squares; I needed them for spacing. The Q boxes represent any two blocks placed next to each other, and the I's above them represent a "wall"; which has the same height and length of a normal Minecraft block, but is very thin.
What is this good for? Well...
It would stop movement like any other block, so could be used as walls for a house without taking up as much space as a full block (It would still allow things to be placed on the blocks on either side of it).
It would prevent redstone from connecting with other redstone on the other side of the wall, allowing for easier, more compact wiring.
It could be used to change the texture of the side of a block by placing the wall on the side of the block.
The crafting recipe for a wall would probably be 3 of a certain material in a vertical row to produce 3-6 walls. You would be able to build a wall out of most materials - wood; stone; bricks; iron, gold and diamond blocks; obsidian. I don't think things like dirt and sand should be options.
So, what is your opinion of this idea? Do you think it could work? Can you think of any other uses for walls? Post your comments below...
