I personally have been making a zombie map on a Superflat world, and Slimes spawn inside of my structures frequently. I really look at them as annoying and inconvenient because of them spawning everywhere I look.
I think that Superflat worlds should have a Slime disabling feature.
I have no problem with any of the other mobs though.
I think that if you want ALL mobs gone, use Peaceful. Slimes, however, should have a disabling feature for Superflat Worlds only.
"Slimes can spawn in a flatland because world generation level is 3 blocks above bedrock"
"Slimes are found only in the lowest 40 layers of the map, and only in certain areas."

Please, use the peaceful button...
I don't like this idea. We already have a peaceful button. This makes all hostile mobs despawn.
Despite what some might think, no. Slimes do not spawn that often unless you leave your game open during the whole day. This is because the normal hostile mobs spawn at night and die in the morning, but Slimes spawn in any light level. Because of restrictions on the number of mobs (lag reasons) this results in a bunch of slimes spawning. This is counteracted with two things:
Even during the day, not that many slimes can be found if you aren't in a slime chunk, as the only ones that will show up are wanderers.
The commands (/time set X) or (/time add X) make it so that you never actually have to leave nighttime, thus the hostile mobs don't die, and you can test your mob traps anyway.
So you see, mob problems can be solved by either switching to peaceful or typing "/time add WHATEVERTIME"
But if you are on or near a slime chunk, Slimes will often wander into your machines. I don't quite understand what you mean by changing it to night; that only make more unwanted mobs spawn when I'm trying to make things with my own mobs.

That's just my point: All hostile mobs despawn, so you can't test the mobs you need to test.
Would it be possible to make Peaceful only prevent mobs from naturally spawning, while still allowing you to spawn them yourself? If it is, I think that would solve this problem.

That was directed at the mob traps comment. If slimes are screwing up other hostile mobs you're using for testing, change the time to night. If you want to use your own mobs, change it to day. It's not too hard to avoid mobs while building.

Because of how low flatland terrain is, it is not considered a valid location for your original spawn. The terrain generator goes through a certain number of checks for spawn locations before giving you up and just spawning you at the most recently checked location. Because your original spawn point is not a valid original spawn point, it finds a new spawn point every time you respawn (unless you used a bed). I'm not entirely familiar with how slime chunks are decided, but something similar to that causes EVERY chunk in flatlands to be a slime chunk.
Also, WhatsItToYa, just because animals aren't hostile mobs doesn't mean they aren't mobs. Animals still exist in peaceful. Therefore, peaceful is not completely mobless. Additionally, 226611 meant an option that's available when you are generating a new world, similar to cheats in recent snapshots, which are also non-generation related.
I suggest using McEdit to make a flat level that has an elevation at at least 64 and has 1000 chunks in all directions, Then using Biome Edit to turn the entire map into what ever biome you want. This is what I did to avoid the slime problem and so that I could make underground things.
This is correct.
You don't even have to kill the passive mobs, just fly away from them. I mean, if you're building in Superflat, I'd assume you're in creative mode.
Suggestions for removing slimes at least have some merit. Saying you don't want mobs to spawn at all when you can just switch to peaceful is just silly.
Completely off topic, but that's an incorrect use of that meme.
But I build stuff with that involve hostile mobs like zombies!
I totally agree! If someone wants a super flat world, hello Mojang they probably just want a world to build on without a bunch of structures in their way. Then when you make a super flat world there is a million stupid slimes and animals that spawn! Then if you want them away, you have to go around and kill them all in the area you want cleared... I mean really?

Being a nerd is nothing to be ashamed of. Nerds rule the world! Who invented the internet? Nerds. Who created personal computers and smart phones? Nerds. Who made every video game you've ever played and ever will? Still nerds. Who sent probes to distant planets? Nerds, nerds and more nerds! I'm a nerd and I'm proud.
When you enter the superflat world, then you could use the command:
/gamerule doMobSpawning false
then use the /kill @e command a couple of times to kill any mobs that might have spawned while you were typing.
It's as simple as that. Also, as an added bonus, this only stops mobs from spawning naturally. That means any spawn eggs, commands, or spawners you may use will still work.

Just make the pre-set surface be y= 63 instead of y= 5 to get rid of the slimes on any difficulty. It you believe you won't have enough room to build something tall, remember: in normal worlds, the surface doesn't go below y= 63 unless you find a surface ravine or something.
A redstone clock hooked up to a command block to kill @e slimes or something similar would take care of your problems. You'd have to do some research to learn what the command for that is, and you'd have to do it for every flat world, but it's a fairly simple solution once you know how to do it.

I.e: We currently have Normal and Superflat.
And later it'd be Normal, Superflat, and Mobless. (Same as superflat without mobs. :P)
You got the 'idea' of world generation wrong. It mean that the way the world is formed,
And. Mob-less. Is. Peaceful. Thats what you call no mobs. ._.
