Hallo. Here is yet another magic suggestion. It takes bits from all important areas Mining, building, and some classic magical enchanting. First off, the three gemstones:
Sapphire
Emerald
Ruby
To get them you must mine them, so that's where mining comes in.
Enchanting is simple. You apply a gemstone to a diamond sword, or a golden symbol, at an alter of the specific gemstone. You can't add a ruby at a sapphire alter. (Special crafting table, 2x2) What does each gemstone do? Here you are.
In a golden symbol:
Ruby starts fires, wears down like a flint, but recharges over-time.
Sapphire gives you a major increase in breathing time.
Emerald allows you to heal other people and you. 20 second cool-down.
In a diamond sword:
Ruby increases damage.
Sapphire and Emerald I don't know what they could do.
The other use is for crafting an alter. The crafting blueprint is: = Gemstone
[gold] = Gold = Nothing
[gold] [gold]
[gold] [gold]
Alters, apart from enchanting items, give special bonuses in a area around them. Everyone within a specified number of blocks are affected by these:
Ruby Alter = Damages enemies over time in a 12 block radius. Good for base defense.
Emerald Alter = Heals Allies in a 5 block radius. Good for a town square.
Sapphire Alter = Not a clue.
Please leave comments, feedback and suggestions for the missing abilities of the gemstones.
The Sapphire Alter should produce a small amounts of water for fountains or pools. Not enough to flood anything and would have a fast despawn rate so it would maintain say 8 blocks at any time.
And alternative for the Sapphire Alter is it should act like a sponge in creative, and create an air pocket underwater.
For the Sword:
The Emerald enchantment should increase attack speed.
The Sapphire should increase attack range instead of the Ruby.
The Ruby should increase damage, or apply a damage over time effect.
