We all should know by now that Jeb is not going to put guns in minecraft but how about crossbows
they can be crafted with sticks a iron ingot and a bow and fire quarrels that are arrows with no feathers that would be cool and it does more damage then a bow that would be awesome

I'd rather it have LONGER RANGE and CRIT ON HEADSHOTS than just be a SLOW LOADING BOW WITH MORE DAMAGE.

While I don't dislike the idea of a crossbow in MC, the suggestion needs a bit more tweaking in order to make it worthwhile in the game, and I don't think going for the "realistic approach" is a good idea;
• Crossbows use bolts instead of arrows: No. You're basically stuck crafting a whole new slew of projectile the moment you "upgrade your bow", this will become tedious and highly unpopular rather quickly, not to mention that if a character still wants to carry a bow and crossbow on his person for versatility, he'll be stuck carrying two stacks of projectiles, taking up valuable room in his inventory. I know this is highly unrealistic, but crossbows should use the same arrows as bows.
• Crossbows are stronger than bows: Yeah, okay, I'll admit that at its weakest, a crossbow shot should be about as powerful as a fully charged arrow shot (or just a tad bit weaker at most). Thought "stronger" could also mean "shoots farther", this could probably be the biggest advantage crossbows have over bow; allowing you to snipe targets at very long range.
• Crossbows take longer to reload: Yes and no. If the crossbow takes too long to reload, it makes for an inefficient weapon to use in battle and people won't rely on it, if it's too fast, then what good is the bow then? Obviously, the crossbow should be slower than the bow overall, but it could be faster to shoot the crossbow rather than continuously fire fully charged bow shots.
In conclusion, I believe these attributes would help the crossbow make a balanced and worthwhile element of the game;
• Useful for long-ranged sniping.
• Roughly the equivalent of a fully charged bow shot in damage.
• Overall, slower rate of fire than the bow, but still faster than making fully charged bow shots.
• A bit more ressource-intensive to make the crossbow (in planks and/or ingots for the crafting recipe), but not for the ammunition (still uses arrows).
Do you know the difference between a crossbow and a gun? I am not talking about obvious specific differences, because they will always be there. I am talking about general differences in concept and mechanism. And do you hate guns because guns are too shiny for you?

And by the way, this has been suggested numerous times.
