Basically, I think minecraft should have a feature selector and/or downgrader. Basically, I think we should have the ability to access previous versions of minecraft if we want to, just a suggestion. THis would allow us to play it how it was before, try out different map generators, and so on. Now, for the feature selector, there are various things I think should be included. I think we should be able to turn on and off certain things like vines and grass, be able to change map generator, turn on and off mobs, change some other featurs like alchemy and the end/the nether. Just a thought would be the ability to turn on and off the ability to have certain biomes. These are just ideas and opinions, nothing more.
I am certainly not someone who simply refuses to accept change and wants everything his way, no matter how bloody difficult it would be to selectively enable and disable multiple things that have been hard coded into the game in so very many ways! As we all know, due to the way Java works, you can just press "change" and all the files magic themselves into the right order. Boom, old hunger system! Bam, different AI!
An idea like this would never happen, because Minecraft isn't coded like that. It can't just "roll back" versions when it wants to, although it would be nice if it could.

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.

As a professional software developer, shame on you.
"Minecraft isn't coded like that" is a really poorly thought out response.
Of course it can be changed. This is a very good idea. There are already tools out there that allow you to roll back to earlier versions of Minecraft. Such tools could be rolled in to a next version Minecraft.
Anything can be programmed. It just takes time and effort. Mojang may have a different list of priorities right now. Keep championing the idea and maybe it will happen.

Couldn't you just write a list of bulleted text instructions instead of making me watch another horribly narrated youtube video?

Funny you should say that, as I happen to be one as well! Ever hear of the Initiative game? By "an idea like this would never happen", I meant that I don't see Mojang taking their time to do this. Yes it's possible, but I heavily doubt Jeb, Notch or whoever would actually want to put effort in this. They seem to go with the "just go with the newest version" technique. Although if anyone from Mojang actually mentioned adding this in the future, please provide me proof, because that would really make me happy.

I agree, it is a good idea, but why would Mojang put so much importance on a "roll back version" feature when there are already tools out there that can do this? They can just keep focusing on other things knowing that some of these mods or tools can do what most people want anyway?
