Lol fair enough. But maybe they should do it just as it is becoming night, as an indicator to the player. You could do the same with chickens crowing, even though they technically aren't roosters.

Actually, I'm pretty fond of that idea...
Could always throw a Rooster in. >.> Couldn't be that much work...
Breeding would become a bit harder though, instead of finding 2 chickens you'd have to find a Chicken and a Rooster.
Either way I support both.
Meh...
I'd just set it that the presence of a Rooster increases the chance that eggs in which a Chicken lays will produce another Chicken. You don't need to, necessarily, see the Rooster around to speculate that they did the nasty earlier...so permitting Chickens without Roosters to lay the occasional fertile egg still makes sense, from a lore point of view.
Could also have it that a Rooster will defend the Chickens, which they do in reality..................viciously.
