My suggestion is a new potion that revives the player once, similar to the fairies in Legend of Zelda.
After drinking the potion, if the player dies he/she is immediately revived and brought back to full health. The potion is very expensive to make, and it's effects do not stack.
As far as the alchemy ingredients required, I was thinking Golden Apple + Diamond Block. Too expensive? Not expensive enough? Overpowered? What do you guys think?

About how long does it last? What changes if it becomes a splash potion? Can you add glowstone/redstone to it? But so far I like it. With current costs it's worth carrying around if you have more than 3 diamonds worth of stuff on you.

Great idea!
There's a difference between a hero and a champion. A champion overcomes threats, but a hero overcomes fears.

Then there's also a Youtube channel I'm somewhat involved in.
It could be like:
Water + Golden Melon + Golden Apple + Diamond = Potion of Angelic Promise ( "Angelic" status, makes user revive within 30 seconds of drinking
and then:
Water + Golden Melon + Golden Apple + Diamond Block = Potion of Ungodly Hope ( "Angelic" status is applied until the player dies)
Turning it into a splash potion would nerf the revival state but instantly heal both hunger and health COMPLETELY
