I have a suggestion regarding glass. I think that it could be interesting to break glass if you are moving at a high enough speed(ex. sprinting, riding a mine-cart, falling). This could make player-made dungeons and parkour more interesting and hopefully more fun. Please feel free to criticize and add to this idea in any way you please.
I don't think sprinting should break glass, but something like this would be neat. I think arrows and minecarts would be the main things you could break it with.

Okay, I can see why sprinting into glass could be a problem so maybe have a new block called "safety glass" or something like that? Oh, and thanks for the suggestion of arrows breaking glass.

How about you can only break through glass panes, and not through glass blocks? Or vice-versa.
Maybe full-power arrows can break glass panes, just like they break boats and minecarts.
Yes, that would work into it nicely. Should this mean skeletons should be able to break glass with their arrows? Should dispensers that fire arrows be able to break glass?

This is a very good idea, it would also add a reason to have two different types of glass available in the game.
As for zombies breaking the glass panes I do not see any problem with that as long as it's threated like wooden doors that is only broken if you have the difficulty high enough. If you find it annoying then all you need to do is to build houses with glass blocks instead of glass panes on the ground floor (where zombies can reach them) and use an iron door instead of the weaker wooden doors.
Having glass that can be broken would add some interesting possibilities to the game. The first thing that I can think of is lava traps where the glass is holding the lava back. You can then release the lava with an arrow or something without needing to use pistons and redstone signals.
Another idea would make the player take damage upon the shattering of the glass, as the "shattering" causes shards to fly out and damage the player. This would create another method of remotely damaging players and mobs alike.
Yes, I would like that nicely. You could have a man running in full speed breaking through a glass wall which prevented the water to flood the room. And then LOL the glass breaks.
Glass panels can break but not Glass blocks. Those are really thick. It can be broken by arrows, minecarts, high-speed boats, sprinting players, falling and sand/gravel falling from a great height.
And since glass will be broken, there should be rocks. To throw at my neighbour's house in SMP.
Perhaps if sprinting into glass, or using a minecart, or shooting it with a bow would drop the actual broken glass blocks, then it's fine by me, this would be kinda fun actually, would be great for cinematic scenes in videos and a nice touch to adventure maps.

That is an interesting thought, although the damage shouldn't be very high if this is to be implemented.

Thank you for your input. Boats and falling sand/gravel is a good addition to what has been said.

Ya, that would work too, thanks for the suggestion.

I don't think that throwing bricks through windows is in the spirit of the game.

Because honestly... its real hard to smash through a meter thick of glass.

I apologize if this idea has been already mentioned. I searched for it before I posted and didn't see anything, this wasn't meant to be a re-post.

seems to be the common thought in the comments. Thank you for voicing your opinion.
awesome idea. If you could ever make glass panes lay diagonally I would totally do that thing from mirrors edge where you fall through the glass.
